Cant imagine Silva will be happy though as if Mina Kean gets injured and the replacements end up costing us goals/games then its his job on the line, not Brands. He will ultimately pay the price if we struggle.

Obviously, none of us knows what happened, but one might conjecture that we really wanted Zouma, so hung on till Chelsea definitely made their minds up, then we considered that other Chelsea lad as a loan. Suddenly, Luis turned nasty and Chelsea decided to hang onto their lad. Add maybe the odd other iron in the fire going wrong and suddenly we're in a mess.

As I said, this is only guesswork. I'm also not trying to justify how things turned out because if Brands and co get paid big bucks, then they have to live with their decisions.

He had a good run of matches 2 years ago and then was dropped. I think he’ll do fine if called upon.

If Gbamin an be CB cover along with Holgate it’s ok, Zouma aswell would have been brilliant (but that was a no go) Delph, Davies,Snides can cover Gueye portion if Gbamin is required in defence so all should be ok. I would expect Snides to stay now.

I've been there when he's done really well for us. Let's hope that Holgate shows up, not the Holgate that we saw in pre-season. Lewis Gibson is another who could find himself in the match day squad at some point during the season.
