Davy Klaassen Wants Everton Stay

“You must have strong positioning, ability to control the ball at speed and also have the technique to deal with the speed of it [in midfield]," said Cruyff in 2014.

"Xavi, Toni Kroos and Davy Klaassen can do it. All three have perfect anticipation and they can play it both left and right excellently.

"You watch, when Klaassen plays from that position for Ajax, the tempo increases immediately. Moreover, he rarely loses possession."

I was so excited when I read this.
Cruyff must have lost the plot.
Ajax tbf were considerably faster than us. We havnt seen anything from Klassen yet and I would trust Cruyff's opinion than Sam bloody Allerdyce...or the sheer desperate clinging on from Koeman. I think pace and speed of thought are exactly what we need if we ever want to see the school of science back at Goodison. Personally I cant wait to see Klassen playing under a manager who knows how to utilize him properly...if we are lucky enough to find that man this summer....phroar !!!

Rene Meulensteen:
"Klaassen is proof that the step from Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord to the top competitions has only increased. Sorry but in the Netherlands do we also play in a 'rush rate'? It is not that crazy that Klaassen has had a hard time.
"At Ajax you can play sixty percent in three quarters of the matches and still win. Well, that is different in England.

"That's why I'd rather have seen him at a club like Napoli. In England there is one magic word: intensity. In terms of content, in terms of physical, in terms of conversion. He has to work hard now to still succeed."

Exactly what we’ve been saying all along, he simply does not believe it’s a necessity to increase his tempo and intensity. Always laid back towards everything, even when he had the ball at his feet. No urgency to push forward.

You're making a massive assumption there

You're assuming he doesn't want to do it. Well everything coming from people around the club says otherwise. Even Koeman and Sam said the lad works hard.

The issue is, more likely, that he simply lacks the physical attributes to be able to do it. However, that can be fixed, by working on the right things in training and then getting him minutes. The guy has played a combined 80 minutes since September.

i think realistically no decisions should be made on anyone till the manager arrives.

saying that if anyone fancies Williams, miralles, bolasie id bite their hand off!

He’s gash, he’s too weak for the prem.

Peps thinking of signing that utter powerhouse Iniesta as player coach, with his physical capabilities he'll do great even at his age. Now I know Iniesta is one of the best players in the world but according to some on GOT he is too slight, or will the narrative change to ability on that one:hayee::hayee:? Ability wise the jury is still out on Klaassen for me anyway.

As you say, Iniesta is one of the best players in the world, and his skill, technical ability and cleverness make up for his stature, 3 things Klaassen seems to lack.

This guy isn’t good enough for Everton, and I hope we don’t repeat the same mistake through buying yet more Ajax players that won’t be able to cut it in England.

Any new manager/coaching staff should rightly assess him.

Koeman always said he'd be eased in/would take time.
Unsworth wasn't taking any risks/wanted to impress.
Allardyce by his own admission, wouldn't take a risk on him.

He was on a hiding to nothing - last season was so bad - I think we should be keeping him until January to see how he does.
