David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Absolutely decimated his chances of landing a decent managerial position now too. League 2 if he’s lucky. The players should be ashamed.

I'd like to think any knowledgeable football club chairman around the country would recognize that Unsworth was dropped into the hotseat of a club in a bit of a shambles at the moment. It shouldn't be a reflection of his ability, or take away from what he's achieved with the Under-23's.

This temporary stint is twice as long as de boers permanent stint at palace.
Simon Jordan being a business man saw the weakness and got rid, mosh and bill fantasied about a hunky argie called Diego while they leave the club to rot in the sweaty palms of a tactically inept u23s coach.

What's changed again?

He's a hard bloke to dislike, but cannot remain as first team manager. It is difficult to think who (realistically) might be the best man to patch up the broken, spineless outfit presently parading as a football team, but that man must be recruited tout de suite.

That under 23 coach won the title versus the odds last season - he stepped into the breach not his fault he can't polish a turd of a squad left to him my a multi million paid manager in Koeman!

Any ex player from the 90s involved at the club needs binned off with immediate effect.

Unprofessional weak minded specialists in failure who have issues with drinking culture. Bin them all right off. No other club employs people simply cause they're an ex player. It's disgraceful jobs for the boys. Like Jeffers is managing the 23s. WTF???

Get more Nevs about the club and less Frannies. It's embarassing and pathetic.

How do you know that Unsworth and Ebbrell were involved in the drinking culture of the 1990s?

For all you know they could both be fitness fanatics.

Nah, much of it is his fault. This is not a squad that should be in the relegation zone and it's up to the manager to make it so. Stepping up from managing U23s to managing the first team is like coming from a League 2 side to managing PL. The opponents are tougher, the scrutiny is harsher, the pressure is greater, the egos are bigger. It takes a very special talent to step up from u23 to first team and I'm afraid Rhino, good bloke as he is, isn't that.

Judge the man on his record in the top flight and Europe, removing the sentiment of how he's a blue etc, and it's not good enough. The defence is worse now than under fat head.

Well get relegated if he stays in charge

I genuinely feel sorry for him. If ever anyone received a hospital pass it was him. His hands have been tied because the squad is so weak and there are simply very few options available to him. Awful to see how much its hurting him. I for one will always believe he could have been a great manager for us and may yet be. Hopefully if it is O'Neil who comes in as manager he keeps Unsworth as first team coach or assistant manager.

If you are bringing in a big time manager, wouldnt they pick their own youth coaches? You'd want them learning the same tactics so they could easily fill in as needed either now or in the future I would think.

I wouldn’t have thought so.

Those big time managers only hang around clubs about three or four years and are more interested in the finished article than the youth set up.

The long term development of young players and tactical systems to be implemented throughout all levels of the club would be more the territory of the DOF, I would say.
