David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Couldn't help but notice how long Unsworth sat in his seat today as the performance went from dreadful to an absolute disgrace. Felt like a protest to me - sit back and let things unravel, the owner isn't communicating with me. If there is any truth in that assumption, shows you that even 'loyal' former players will put their own ambitions ahead of the fans who help pay their wages. The lack of urgency from interim manager and overpaid players had me smashing the remote into the sofa. More than a whiff of self-interest for me....hope I am wrong.

It's all about making a point and self interest. At first I thought it was confidence, then I thought arrogance but since the Watford game it's been pure self promotion and preservation of himself. He hasn't acted in a way befitting of an Everton manager and his tactics have been diabolical. If he manages another game then it's one too many.

Seeing "Unsy" and John "the Ebbster" Ebbrell on the bench today reminded me of something.....

We had been a full back driven league for so long. As Baines declined, so did Everton in truth. We need our players to move about more and get open. Everything is too slow and no shape or runs are being created... which is why we need to abandon playing in the middle for the time being. As daft as it sounds, we need to ignore the middle and focus entirely on getting crosses/passes in from out wide. Most of the teams that struggle to create do exactly this and cheese their way to results. Give our fullbacks ample cover with Gueye or whoever they decide to stick with him (please no more Schneiderman). Kenny has a hell of a cross on him and it's criminal that we haven't utilized that.

Complete agreement over the full backs. I would say the main reason for Kenny's crossing ability not being utilised is the fact he's not been good enough in the final third to play himself into those positions. Whilst he's been solid the past few games, I still think he's lacking technically with the ball at his feet in the opposition half.

A couple of quality full backs would give this team another dimension. I think Sigurdsson and Baines would have made a brilliant partnership down the left flank in a similar vein to what he had with Pienaar. Alas, Baines barely gets past the half way line these days.

Unsworth rarely used his technical area, and should have been encouraging the players. He got on his feet and punched his chest when we equalised. What does that actually mean?
His chances of the job are not good, and for me, totally out of his depth.

Nothing surprises me with footballers. Apart from a few, their self-interest knows no bounds. It really is just a job to the vast majority and they are always available to the next hirer with the most dosh. Ex-players talk the talk publically but many are bitter at what the current generation earn and dismissive of fans who have 'never played.' Not all, but most.

Cant help but feel a bit sorry for Rhino. Must be pretty grim going away to Southampton, sitting in the dugout watching a bunch of overpaid lazy numpties walking around the pitch mostly uninterested and ignoring everything that you have said to them and whilst him knowing and the team and everyone else knowing that you are not getting the job anyway thanks to the amateur major shareholder texting idiotic sky sports reporters to tell them that a new manager is close a few days previous.

Its no wonder he spent a lot more time sitting down today. Who could blame him. He should have been caretaker for just them first few games and then a new Manager in and him back to the under 23's without too much damage to himself. They had plenty of time to sort it but just never bothered.

Whole club is a shambles and a disgrace and Rhino has been hung out to dry and he knows it.

For over a week now Unsworth and Ebbrell have been telling people at that they won’t be here much longer in their current roles.
Think they’ve lost all motivation and feel like they’ve been shafted.

But if he loves the club as much as he says he does, a bit more passion wouldn’t go amiss.

We are at the point where we are so bad with the ball that we have to abuse the wings. I don't think I have seen another team in the past few years that has been this poor in possession.

I can't remember a relegation-threatened club ever taking 7 weeks to get a new manager in.

Has Moshiri forgotten that he's the owner of EFC or something?
