David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Can you put forward a case for him other than him ‘getting us’?

Every single interview he mentions his love for the club. We all love the club, doesn’t mean we should be tasked with managing it.

I'm pretty sure nobody is now saying they think Unsworth should be manager.

But how can you sack someone who hasn't even got the job?

He's caretaker. It's gone woefully wrong and the players and board and Koeman and Unsworth are all to blame.

Unsworth is, or rather should be, looking at the exit door.

Conceding 5 at home to a team who hasn't won away all season is a disgrace.

Worst audition for the manager's job I have ever seen from a caretaker. He will rightly be booted out soon.

He shouldn't even be given the Southampton game.

Penalties are the only thing that got us points from Watford and Palace.

Presumably you're too young to remember the debacle of Jimmy Gabriel's tenure between Kendall Mk II and Mike Walker

So you now want him booted out of the club even after all the good work he's done with the under 23s?

HE ISN'T EVEN IN THE JOB FFS

It's not his fault our useless board, DoF and - currently - majority Shareholder - haven't had a plan since before they sacked Koeman.
The knee jerking going on here over a meaningless game is unreal.

Yes, a 5-1 home defeat is terrible, but we have bigger problems on our hands, which we go to again to solve on Sunday by picking up more PL points. Hopefully.

The Euro Disney collapse means nothing at the end of the day.

I think the most damning thing about Unsworth is that he has made team selections that benefit him rather than the team.

He said in his first press conference 'we need a winning manager'. He's lost 4 of his 6 games. He's been hammered in Lyon and even worse, at home to a side that hadn't won an away game all season. He keeps picking Davies because there's this weird cult fetish for him, despite the fact the lad is absolutely useless at the moment.

The most astonishing thing though is that he keeps using the same formation as Koeman. Fantastic way to show that he has zero fresh ideas.

The parallels with Gary Neville are remarkable. Get rid of this dad on the Sunday League touchline and get a proper coach in.

But is anybody actually saying they want Unsworth in long term?

That would baffle me. He has proved what a lot of us thought in that he is nowhere near good enough.

But the issue isn't Unsworth. It's the fact that close to 5 weeks after sacking Koeman - rightly, imo - we haven't got a replacement in.

Yes, I want him booted out of the club. I want every single ex-Everton play who has walked into a job at this club to be booted out.

Time for a fresh start. No more ex-players on the gravy train.

Ffs, Rooney and Jeffers are both employed by the club and both left! What kind of message does this send out?

Nothing games, aye? Can I have my money back then?

I honestly don’t think you have watched the games against Leicester, Palace and Watford. If you did, you’d see that then 4 points masked absolutely horrific performances.
Would a win in that game last night have helped this club out of the mess Koeman landed us in in any way shape or form?

No.

He is a lame dog that needs putting out of his misery before it’s too late.

He is losing more credibility with every game that passes.

Unsworth has tried his best to alienate other candidates. He keeps saying how he 'gets' what the fans want. He can't point to anything else other than being a fan of the club.

Rubbish player and an even worse manager.
The fans want results end of story and he’s not giving us them. He was lucky only 17k was there to witness that last night!! 17k for a European home game!

I’ll take that as you didn’t watch the Premier League games.

We were extremely fortunate in both. Two penalties (one undeserved) have saved us.

The changes made against Watford were forced by the fans.

Back Unsworth at our peril. Thankfully, I don’t think there is any chance of him getting the job now.

Agree in that it's a pointless game and tbh all it showed me last night was that the players can't even play for pride.

Baningime, Sandro (purely as he worked hard and I hope that goal gives him a bit of confidence) and to an extent Kenny/Feeney the only ones who seemed to want it. Robles did what he could with the penalty save and kept the score down at 1/2-0.

But I don't get the stick for Unsworth.

He isn't asking to get the job anymore. His team selection yesterday was a reflection that we can't afford injuries to key players in a pointless game.

It’s embarrassing in here. He’s blatantly out of his depth but he’s the least at fault. The board, the players, Koeman and Walsh have a lot more culpability.

But it's the manner of the further decline which has possible done fatal damage to the squad. Why not go back to basics and make the team difficult to beat? We were scoring goals - not loads of them, but a goal a game in the league. If you get some clean sheet games in there with your 1 goal a game... something magical happens.... you win 1-0. It ain't pretty, but it works at a time of crisis.

Not for 'look at me I'm a superblue' Unsy.

4-3-3 (because that has worked so well for the last four seasons), players out of position again, chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge. Oh no, we now concede 2 goals a game.

Unsworth has spewed it everywhere here.

Don't be a melt lad ffs.

He's the only one who's chuffing won anything with this club in 21 years.

He's done brilliantly well for four years with the U23s. And you want him getting booted out of the club after 6 games in charge of a team that can barely string together two passes?

Nobody is saying he should be manager. But why can't he go back to his role that he was doing so well in?

Weird.
