David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Dave wants him until the end of the season. That would see us relegated.

Well I don't agree with that.

I'd rather have Allardyce until the end of the season.

It's infuriating to me that we seemingly didn't move for Dyche prior and just after Koeman's sacking.

The signs were there then that a manager who can organise a defence is what was required. And that in the long term would look to build us and take us forward.

Of course, if he doesn't want his job back, by all means, show him the door.

But it should be offered to him. Why should he be booted out?

Agree mate - it shouldn't even be offered him it should still be his...

I would expect though if he has any ambition to be a proper first team manager, he will look to move on after this and start his way back up the ladder.

Would a win in that game last night have helped this club out of the mess Koeman landed us in in any way shape or form?

No.

Hopefully the way last nights debacle has helped us it to make Unsworth realise who he shouldn't be playing - ie. Coco the Clown, Tractor Williams and Davy "rabbit in the headlights" Klaassen.

He is being hung out to dry because of our board's absolute incompetence in finding the replacement they should have been sourcing since about a month before Koeman was sacked. It was clear as day in that Atalanta away game that Koeman's days were numbered. A proper proactive club would have had the feelers out from then.

Two of those players had made two appearances in a matchday squad between them prior to last night.

I'm sure he knows that already mate. Maybe he'll persevere with Williams in some league games whilst Jagielka is out, but the other two have already been sidelined.

This was a makeshift team in a game of no - direct - consequence. It was a match we had to fulfil and Unsworth should not be judged on this performance alone.

It was a shocking game, but the situation is not of Unsworth's making. He is persevering in what must be very difficult circumstances for him too.

He must now get the squad together and prepare them for a run of three critical Premier League matches - Southampton, West Ham and Huddersfield.

This could well be the run that determines the outcome of our season. I think that we should brace ourselves.

Unsworth shouldn't get the job Dave.

He can't do. He isn't good enough.

But, it's not his fault we're in the position we are or that he's currently still having to take charge.
Never said he should. If he gets us 4 points from 6 in the next two though I'd say he's earned the right to try and save us for the rest of the season.

Be VERY careful about shifting DU out at this stage. Those players will likely not play for anyone else.

Now that is a chilling thought at this point.

Nobody, but my issue so far is that his job was sure up a lacklustre midfield and defence. We’ve become worse.

I’d be happy with a 0-0 draw, that’s a starting point. Problem is we’ll concede at least 2 everyone knows it
We all know it's terrible. But we have the players left to us and it's a matter of targeting games now. We can only hope they put the effort in and find some form until at least January.

'If Everton players are not hurting the way I am, they shouldn't be here' says Unsworth

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Actually it gets worse

“And I would love to think that every single player is hurting the way I am at the moment. If they are not hurting the way I am at the moment then they shouldn't be here at this great club, they need to know what this great club is all about and that the minimum requirement is 100% effort, commitment and desire and there's your building block to perform and play good football.

Yawn yawn yawn

Building blocks again.

They're playing for him?!
