David Unsworth appreciation thread

With the squad of players that we have we shouldn't be under pressure of relegation with a competent coach. Unsworth is more than competent. Frankly could he do worse than Koeman, I don't think he could! He's also got the experience of Joe Royle to call on.
I think he could do worse, but I also think he could lead us to champions league glory it's all guesswork we neither of us know. However we can calculate that given his total lack of experience there is a greater likelihood of failure than with an experienced manager that is surely irrefutable. We know the step up to take charge of another man's team is a hell of a challenge for an experienced manager let alone one with none. For me that level of risk is too great for me to be comfortable with.
It's all academic anyway, Koemans renaissance begins tomorrow and by Christmas this debate will be but a distant memory. :)

Koeman isn't under pressure because he's lost 3 games. He's under pressure because he's blown £220 million, has no discernible pattern of play, his signings make no sense as does his team selection and tactics. His football is dire and the players don't seem to want to play for him. Add to that the fact that he doesn't seem to get Everton and goes off on a jolly at the drop of a hat! Those are the reasons why he's under pressure. If you can deal with pressure as an individual then you can deal with it as a manager.
Any manager who loses three games on the bounce comes under pressure from me including all past ,current and future ones regardless of who they support or played for. One game is acceptable ,just. Two games and he shall hear the wrath of my foulmouthed gob and the strength of my opprobrium . Three ? well............cushions will fly.

Unsy is doing a bang up job with the u23's.I think we should leave him where he is for now.In due course i think he should be promoted to assistant manager for the first team though.

Well no one knows for sure, we all have to make assessments based on our judgment of their past track record and what we think of their abilities. I think it was not unreasonable based on Koeman's past history to have major reservations about his managerial ability and to think that he wouldn't be up to the job. Similarly I think there are reasonable reasons to think Unsworth could do a good job stepping up. I don't think he could do worse but we'll just have to agree to differ.

I actually never thought of that one.But drinking yourself till your numb, and hoping that everything will be grand by Tuesday morning, seems like a plan alright!
To be fair corky I'm smashed on Guinness and old putney, and I say sack the fat dutch whopper, and deal with it in the morning, we should never of hired him, I've had great times with the dutch, but as leaders they arrogant and stubborn to the end, get rid of him and never hire a fried cheese eating dutchman again

I disagree and that's such a simple reductionist view which I think bears little resemblance to what happens. Players move for the opportunity of playing for a bigger club who'll pay them more money. Anyway if we are sell to buy then we'll need to adopt a different approach to be successful by having a young progressive coach who'll bring young players through. That may or may not be Unsworth but I'd like to see him given a chance to the end of season to find out.

Alright mate, maybe I did simplify things a bit there but ask yourself this... would any of the 6 teams above us last season go with an internal appointment?

United - Tried Moyes on Fergie's recommendation, after which started going for established winners

City - established winners

Chelsea - established winners

Arsenal - Wenger will live forever

Spurs - Couldn't quite get the big names in so went for young up and coming managers in AVB and Potch

Liverpool - Tried young and promising in Brenda, failed, went for Klopp who has won titles before
