Please elaborate on what the massive differences between those two statements are.

They both imply expectation of winning.

While they might be 17th now they've spent piles more money on their squad than we have, haven't they?

Vs Burnley I thought we'd win. I also expected us to win.

Vs Nottingham Forest. I think we'll get a result, but I dont expect it.

Well at least I can confidently say I'm not desperate for Everton to lose so I can act the big one on GOT because I have a stiffy for a former manager.

We've got to stop with this. Everyone on here is desperate for us to win. Nobody wants us to lose, it's a tedious argument that gets trotted out time and again and it has no basis in reality. We may disagree on how to get us winning but nobody is rooting for us to lose.

No that doesn’t help at all. Why would you think we’re going to get a result if you don’t expect us to? If you don’t expect us to get a result tomorrow then you obviously think we won’t get a result?

“I think we will win” is different to saying I think we can win”, I get that. But his statement was “I think we will win”. So he expects to win then.
