2025/26 David Moyes

Under Dyche - GOT reaction

Talking about avoiding relegation - not on, what happened to NSNO
Criticising players - he’s thrown them under the bus
Saying the opposition have a good team - no excuses, we’re Everton
Mentioning prem experience, or fitness - shut your mouth you brexit curry eating dinosaur
Bemoaning player unavailability - another excuse
Claiming fans have European expectations - he’s having a go at the fans
Dropping points to newly promoted teams - sackable offence
Not starting Roman Dixon - sackable offence

Under Moyes - GOT reaction
Talking about avoiding relegation - it’s all about stability
Criticising players - they deserve it
Saying the opposition have a good team - it’s the truth
Mentioning prem experience or fitness - absolutely right, we need prem ready players now.
Bemoaning player availability - it would impact any team, we have a crap squad
Claiming fans have European expectations - fans shouldn’t have them, that’s crazy, it’s all about stability, we have a crap squad that needs another 100 mill pumped in
Dropping points to newly promoted teams - we’re basically the same as them without our best players, can’t expect to be ready for the season when he wasn’t backed in the summer
Not starting Roman Dixon - who? Oh him, he’s crap anyway. Moyes is doing the right thing keeping our 40 mill winger on the bench for half a season though and giving Aznou zero game time, he needs prem proven players now.

They’re both saying exactly the same things and neither of them are/were wrong. We do need prem proven players in every position, a lot of teams in the league are better than us, and the job for both of them at first was about avoiding relegation.

Yet the reaction to one was complete hysteria whilst the reaction to the same messages from the other is a race to down play any expectations whatsoever. At one point even Moyes a very conservative manager was talking about Europe and it was getting shouted down on here!

We have poured 100 mill plus into a squad that has achieved 48 points two seasons in a row. For me mid 50s, top half, and a cup run would be ‘par’ and equivalent progress for the fifth highest net spend in the league last summer. Moyes is on track for that at the moment if we can have a better second half of the season and take a tilt at the FA Cup.

Big game tomorrow for you Sean!

Spot on mate. Completely binary.

As for this season's ambitions: top half is low hanging fruit. That's the only way to look at it because we've been just off mid table in the last two seasons (with points deducted being placed back on for the first of those seasons) when there was no financial backing.

IMO the metric should be higher than that for Moyes to keep his job: a euro spot. But I accept that top half again after being outside it for so long will be seen by the owners as good progress - so top half it is.

Spot on mate. Completely binary.
This account is responsible for heralding Dyche for handling the 8 point deduction, then with an 8 point improvement produced by Moyes' side calling the 8 points inconsequential.

This account decided to ignore this matter when presented with it initially. Always be careful buying into perceptions of anything, let alone 'binary' out of this account.

Think it’d be better for your mental health if you just went and supported Forest while your gaffer is there and accept that nobody in our fanbase likes him and we’re all delighted he’s gone.

Why wouldn't we expect a team with the 19th highest net spend over the last 5 years to beat the one with the 8th highest?

Surely if we lose there can be no explanation beyond their manager is superior.

Got a feeling this one will be ignored now that it doesn’t suit the agenda of the day.

What a weird little cult following the ginger scabby Thatcher fan built up while he was here.

They have a much more expensive squad that earned European football last year.

But we can just ignore that for the sake of an agenda.

Not many people seemed to care about net spend and respective squad qualities when I brought them up every week for the last few seasons. No excuses apparently.

Now they’re suddenly important again? Perhaps I was right to mention them then.
