2025/26 David Moyes

As posted yesterday in anticipation of the Moyes and the Moyes cheerleader's inevitable excuses today...

The funniest thing about this is pretending that's an expensive squad.

I loathed Dyche. I wanted him out after that first season once he pulled off the great escape. Check the vaults, there are few on here who were more critical than me when it came to Dyche. Excusing Moyes for dreadful performances, like today's, because of injuries whilst not affording Dyche that same courtesy is what I'm aggrieved about. In my opinion, both Dyche and Moyes fail to get the best out of this squad, particularly when the top players are out of the starting line up. Calling Dyche "Mr Egotistical" whilst Moyes tries to deflect attention from himself by claiming a Burnley side with 8 members of their first team squad was their "best side" and we did well to get a point is also funny. That comment was positively Dychian. This forum has double standards when it comes to managers, some, who are more well liked, get away with a lot more than others.

The reply wasnt about Moyes. I was just bemused where you got that Dyche comment. He did nothing but put Everton down. All self preservation as well because he knew lowering expectations made it look like he was doing a fantastic job and everyone should be thanking him.
It was a bizare comment.

Again, why are you acting like Moyes and Dyche are performing similarly anyway? That’s the oddest thing about this entire discussion in my opinion.
The only way I've suggested that they are similar is in their inability to get the best out of the team when their best players are out. Then, when I or others have said that, you've piled in saying "five best players out" as if that's a get out of jail free card against a Burnley side with 8 players out. You wouldn't have countenanced that argument for a second if it were Dyche in charge.

In terms of Moyes' general performance, it's been better than Dyche but it's been pretty underwhelming. We are 11th and are playing pretty poorly and we bombed out of the cup to a second string Wolves side, the same Wolves that have managed just 2 points in half a season in the league, at a time when we were playing well. I'm praying for a result against Sunderland in a couple of weeks time because if we don't get one then the season is pretty much over in mid Jan. Is that better than a relegation battle? Yes, of course, but it's not some sort of marvellous achievement.

Moyes is the absolute master of lowering expectations, Mr Knife-to-a-Gunfight. He also constantly puts this club down. He did it in his first stint and he does it now. His comments about us only having a chance against Newcastle when we're on our best day and they're on their worst when we were above them in the league and they hadn't won away from home all season was just the latest in a long line.

Thank you for perfectly illustrating the double standards I'm talking about.
