2025/26 David Moyes

At the end of the day, everything is connected, and bad refereeing decisions, especially regarding VAR, are justified with incredible arguments that would never be given to the big teams. Growing also means earning respect. With circumspect thoughts, actions, and statements like those made by Moyes, that's not achieved.

The Keane deal shows a lack of ambition and an acceptance of mediocrity. Yes he's had a decent season by his own very low standards but he is still bang average. A decent scouting system would have identified younger , better players.
I wouldn’t mind if he was used only in emergencies but he's basically first reserve and with Jarrad being injury prone he'll be playing 20 plus games again next season whilst O'Brien is being misused at right back

Results are results and you can’t argue with them, but everyone knows over a season those games when you’ve battered a team and deserved to win, and those games when you’ve scraped results you didn’t deserve.

I don’t think some of the away games we’ve won this season have had performances worrhy of the away results. I don’t think we’ve put in performances befitting of having one of the best away records. We’ve hung in in games and nicked results which is a quality in and of itself but it’s not sustainable or particularly repeatable.

The sign of a top team is consistency at home when on the front foot, and we’ve got none of that. I can’t tell you how this team plays or try and predict a result, it’s a team the defends ok and plays in moments, if they go our way the result is good, if not it’s bad. There’s no consistency in that though.

Consistency: it's all about control - control of the ball.

We dont have a team that can protect the ball and use it; we have zero intelligent movement (even KDH and Ndiaye just wait to collect the ball rather than run in between lines to collect a pass...which maybe can be explained by the inability of a Moyes team to pass the ball accurately to feet).

We have two ways of playing: 1/ all behind the ball and then hope for a break; 2/ play a bit further up the pitch and rely on KDH and Ndiaye to skip a few challenges to make something happen.

Basically: we cant play passing possession football and therefore everything is unpredictable.

front..foot? What is this tactic you speak of?

Do they? Genuinely curious to know what’s given you the impression that they have a clue about the sport of football.
The changes to the scouting and academy structure were encouraging. I also like how they’re not calling up Jim White after a few sherries and stay in the background. But yeah, not a high bar is it

Well we are not in 8th are we. We are in 11th with a game against Man City coming up. After the Liverpool meltdown, Davey came out and said what a great team Liverpool are...after losing to a piss poor WHU, Davey came out and spent his tome talking about how great the lumbering Soucek is...Moyes is completely tone deaf. He is as motivating as stale egg sandwich. Boring AF. Imagine playing for that week in week out. He is the KING of mediocrity.
Wasn't - past tense.

Also, I suggested it wasn't a great achievement. You appear to be angrily agreeing with me.

But we have less points at the moment, than the previous 2 yrs and we now have more losses this season than last. So far Moyes hasn’t kicked us on this season, which is failure imo

There are still 12 points to play for this season as opposed to the whole of last season. And he was only here from the mid january last season. Are you chucking the dyche aug-jan on him? He took over from dyche on 17 points so he put 31 points on the board in 4 months.
Also the last two seasons Everton were an average of 18 points from qualifying for Europe. Today as it stands we're 3 points off sixth.

The whole context is how Everton are now to 14 months ago. From looking at the bottom 3 to being very disappointed about maybe not getting European football. But if you'd offered that to any Everton fan the day dyche was sacked i cant imagine one who wouldnt have bit your hand off.
You can only do so much in a period of time.
