2025/26 David Moyes

Yeah. But what I’m trying to point out is, I don’t want it to be a one off win like Palace’s is likely to be.

This all started with one poster saying about how we should ignore the entire history of the cups and only consider last season. It’s morphed into whatever it is now, but ultimately, last year is a fluke when you look at the history of the cups, certainly in the last 30 years. I want us to be in finals year in year out. So we need to be realistic about it and get the squad to where it needs to be for that. Rather than looking at last season and thinking we could also fluke it.

I disagreed with Moyes approach in the cups this season, but we also have longer term goals. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t absolutely love to win a trophy.
Fair enough, I don't read all this thread, it's far too and for that so I just dip in and out.

Even so, I still think you have to start somewhere and there's nothing to say a trophy win would have to be a one off. As someone else has said, Palace really should be winning the Conference league and that'd be two in two years. If they had a big new stadium and the financial backing we now have, that could be genuinely sustainable.

For my money, a trophy win would help our long term goals with no downside

Even if you absolutely hate Moyes, all this does is make sacking him slightly more expensive if it goes pear shaped.

You can't really be too upset about this unless you were adamant we replace him ASAP at any cost and don't care that we're actually having a fairly good season under his leadership.

Makes sense, we need some consistency and he has proven he can do the job, not just tactically or with his man management, he can actually handle the pressure and demands of the fans where most of caved since his first term.

Pretty incredible how this season has turned around from the summer tournament in America where we could just about field a first 11.

It's been so nice not having the threat and anxiety of relegation or the existence of our club at threat, now we're looking at Europe.

Get him a contract extension then get some players in early to push on next season.
