2025/26 David Moyes

This is a big concern. I think it was Kinnear that said at the start of his tenure that bringing down the average age of the squad was a huge priority. We have done this, just very slightly. This is another reason why I think that some of the things going on this season are due to a lot of tension between Moyes and the backroom recruitment team which may come to a head at some point soon.
Average age takes care of itself when Gana and Coleman retire?

We’ve got new owners who unlike the last incumbents, actually seem to have a clue. We’ve got a brand new stadium which let’s face it, is incredible. The revenue and commercial streams are increasing thus easing the PSR albatross that’s been around our neck for years. We now actually have some kind of transfer kitty, and yet we STILL have people championing David Moyes as the “safe pair of hands we need”. Seriously??

This club has been run so so badly for over 30 years now that all ambition seems to evaporated away and fans are content with not being in a relegation battle.

As a fan who’s lived through the glory years and seen us win just about everything, it’s soul destroying to see what some Evertonians now find acceptable. Sad times.

He’s definitely steadied the ship and im delighted not to be in a relegation battle but it’s all so underwhelming isn’t it

Unfortunately for Moyes he’s at a club that have achieved the square root of nothing for decades and being a blue apart from nail biting relegation battles has been dull and uninspiring . As a fanbase I think a lot would prefer to twist than stick particularly when you see clubs like palace enjoying themselves , the growth of Villa , forest in a semi final and Brighton /bournemouth & Brentford closing in on a European place .

I’d be happy with him in place but I totally understand those clamouring for change and if he stays he’ll need to show improvement again as I don’t think standing still is an option .

Lets hope the new owners show some ambition this summer

I dont accept playing for draws and going safety first when we are safe in midtable and going for Europe. It send a horrendous message to the team and shows everything we need to know about the standards and mentality within the club.

The sensible decision is to bring in a long term manager before spending more money but I think there is a better than 90% chance TFG keep him into the last year of his contract.

I think with Keane getting a new deal that Moyes is here for next season otherwise that deal wouldn't of been sanctioned

There is a big difference between a 'safe pair of hands' and 'what we need'. A 'safe pair of hands' will probably not have us in a relegation scrap, which will suit the owners. We had money during the Moshiri era, and built a new stadium but we haven't won anything since 1995 and no matter how it's dressed up we are nowhere near changing that with Moyes. As we weren't with all the other managers since 1995. There is no guarantee that these new owners 'have a clue' except to say they are here to make money, and that will be determined by success on the pitch, which may or may not mean winning something.

The problem with going steady is you're standing still which in sport in general is the last thing you want where more ambitious competitors take risks and eventually overtake you
We've been overtaken by other clubs as the table shows and by those that win something. The new owner will want steady after the last number of years. They are here to make money, however, will they accept 'steady' after next season, if we finish where we will this season and winning nothing.

Do they? Genuinely curious to know what’s given you the impression that they have a clue about the sport of football.

The Keane deal shows a lack of ambition and an acceptance of mediocrity. Yes he's had a decent season by his own very low standards but he is still bang average. A decent scouting system would have identified younger , better players.
We have a finite amount of money and need 3 full backs, are least 1 if not 2 pacy wide players and a striker. If they're half decent players that will cost £200 million so we can't afford to let a solid squad player like Keane go.

The bar they have to clear is insanely low. Moshiri and Kenwright. Is it possible to run us worse than those two did for the past 20+ years combined?

The Friedkins have only had a few big decisions to make so far but they've got them right. Jibbing off Dyche, hiring Moyes, not renewing Thelwell. Got to trust them.
