2025/26 David Moyes

i don’t agree, the teams have never been fitter and more physical, or better drilled and i think that makes it hard

every player on the pitch can play and pass and resist the press, i remember us getting 4th with stubbs and weir clogging the ball in the air at every opportunity and big sam’s bolton being one of our big rivals

and because anyone can beat anyone and theres not 6 clear best sides as usual makes it feel weaker when i think its the opposite
Excellent post. The league is very competitive. The current team we have is miles better than the team that Moyes had finishing fourth.

And? each clubs departures are in that table. We were far from an outlier in departures and our actual net spend was 7th.

If we’re sold those 10 players (18 departures total actually) for £10m ea and spend and extra £100m we’d still be net 7th highest spenders.

Net spend is only relevant to boffins in an office compiling spreadsheets to submit to other boffins in order to comply with financial rules and has nothing to do with building a better football team. Factually, we spent less money on football players than 13 other teams last summer. So anyone using “we spent £110m” as a means to justify 8th in the league not being good enough is simply inventing a crisis to back up a frankly unhealthy agenda.

Iraola would be gone in 12 months.

Its hilarious when Blues suggest these shiny new "progressive managers" with no connection to the club and think they could come in and implement their "philosophy" willy nilly.

We've been down this road before and it hasn't worked.

The fanbase snuffs them out in no time and they can't handle the pressure.

This club will never win anything with a manager who's got no connection to club...never has, never will.
Just getting a new manager in whilst buying slow, moderate players for too much money has set them up for failure. We need to sort our transfer policy out, decide the road we're going down and get the manager to suit. If we keep Moyes then get hard working players who graft. If we're going with someone like Iraola get younger players with lots of pace who will play to his system.

So is gross transfer spend only relevant to spin false narratives about having less money available than our peers?

Och when you look at what other teams are spending……

You sound like someone else but I can’t quite put my finger on whom

We started from a low base and spent £110m to try and make us competitive. However we've not played most of the players we spent the money on so it was pointless.

Including Moyes.

Not pointless at all. Players have to compete for their places. Just because someone is a new signing it does not mean they deserve to waltz into the team.
