2025/26 David Moyes

At least he came to Goodison. Fat head Gray was sunning himself on a beach in the middle east and getting his agent to pull strings for him to get a massive raise from Sky.

An utter fraud like his mate 'Sharpy'.

Didn't he come to Goodison as well have a recollection of him being mobbed on Goodison road......going from memory so might be making it up.

The reliance on older experienced players can result in a teams rapid decline when they get past their best as West Ham found out after Moyes left & as Liverpool are finding now. Ferguson was great at moving players on just after they peaked.

Yes precisely. For this reason I dont often slate Moyes' time at United because Ferguson left him with an ageing squad that he wont the league with after getting every single drop out of them.

Moyes' other clubs, not so much lol

Check the average age of teams that have won the Premier league.
Just replacing Gana with Armstrong massively drops our Age.

Stick O'Brien and Branthwaite as CB and what does that do to the age ?

Typically its 25-26 years avg.

Yup, which says a lot for everyone else that tried
But they didn't get much time to do it in: to build on stability. The managers who came after Moyes faced immediate calls for their sacking when things went wrong...even more when Moshiri came in and the clever people thought we could spend out on world class managers and players and assure success.

See i think we'll be alright...

Only really tarks and gueye fall in that category....
Jb and obrien can slot in for tarks amd we have time, rohl amd Armstrong to slot into midfield

Big if on all 3 at the same time it seems, mate.

Who's even arsed about average age? I've seen people complain he left an aging squad here. All I can say is, I'm hardly surprised. Between Jan 2010 andJan 2013 the club gave him a GROSS transfer spend of about £27 million. Pienaar*, Arteta and Rodwell were sold during that period. Summer 2009 he had a bit of cash to spend... Off the back of flogging Lescott.

*Left and came back during that period. According to the figures I can find, which seem to pass the memory test, we flogged him for £2 million ( 6 months left on his deal) and paid 4.5 to bring him back.

That's pretty slim pickings after 12 years in charge.
Also responsible for our highest league position since the 80s. But you know all of this. As a percentage I would say there are more flat earthers in the world than Everton fans who agree with you on Moyes. Being made to order explain his achievements for us to you day in day out only hardens our appreciation of him. I this point I'm all in favour of a statue outside Hill Dickinson.

Not arsed about average age, arsed about relying on 37 year olds more than than the younger players we already have and have played well overall in the 37 year old's absence - I know "no experience" and all, but how exactly will they get it if they don't play? I also know the answer - "if they were good enough they'd play" or something, and "he watches them in training".

What happened in 2009 is hardly relevant to the current situation tbh mate.

No, it's not relevant, was just pointing out maybe why the squad was maybe aging a bit when he left. Lack of backing.

I personally couldn't care less how old Gueye is. He's one of the first names on the team sheet as far as I'm concerned.

I'd maybe get people going on about the average age if it was like 33 or something, but people* going on about it because it's in the mid-high 20's when Tarkowski ( de facto captain) and Gueye, two of our most reliable players, both performance and availability wise, are 33 and 36 respectively???

*mainly Zat tbf. I think I might just make him the only person I have on ignore. I know a lot of people think Dave should be ignored, but at least he's a 'character'. Zat's just a tedious Fifa bore.

Soz to go off on a tangent  Sometimes the train of thought just comes out.
