2025/26 David Moyes

Every single time we have a downturn, or even just one poor result, there's a faction who scapegoat certain players and howl for the managers head on here. It's not exclusive to Moyes.

Mostly Moyes though.

That's revealing too. We've been in a very decent league position like we are in now but a reversal has loads of posters wanting him gone - or at least demanding his contract isn't extended.

The feller is not liked by whole swathes of Everton supporters. Most are indifferent to him and judge him mostly on league position it has to be said. But I cant detect a great deal of 'love' for Moyes among Everton fans. First time around that wasn't the case: then he was admired and very much looked up to. That's gone forever.

Fair enough, hope you see the light soon and realise that there is more to life than holding decades long grudges against people you will never meet and have little to no affect on your life.

Or you realise that there are no rewards to being a wind up merchant other than a false sense of importance.

Now, back onto Moyes, hopefully he will earn the reward of another year by getting us that European spot. I have my doubts that we will make it but then again, I am in one of my more slight negative moods :). The beauty of football is opinions and beliefs change as quickly as the wind. Get 3 points on Saturday and it is back to being positive.
Preach super bloo preach

“ beliefs change as quickly as the wind”

True although I sometimes found it a bit bemusing, long term challenges suddenly solved by one or two decent results, didn’t make sense to me.

Can you point to these whole swathes of Everton fans please? Are they in the room with you?

I get what you're saying Dave, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It can become a bit of an echo chamber in here, and I often leave thinking we're all a load of miserable barstewards in the main. In the ground, on other socials, I've heard far more vitriol and disdain for other managers in our recent past.

He was almost universally given a lot of love at Goodison last season, when he came in and saved us from a relegation battle. I'm still not 100% convinced we'd have gone down under Dyche, but I'm 100% certain we'd have been in a relegation battle deep in to the season. Moyes kept us away from it, and ensured we got to give Goodison a proper send off, with no worries.

We're a team who have had the lowest net spend in the league over a sustained period. We lost what? Was it 10 first team players in the summer? And people are crying because we haven't improved as much as they'd like because we spent less than what the RS spent on one player?

Be careful what you wish for. There might be a lot of red faces on here if Moyes is hounded out and we go from a side that's clearly improving, to one that's on the slide. I'd personally never show my face on here again if I found myself in that position.

I’m sure then it won’t be a problem for Moyes to beat a couple of City, Chelsea, Brentford & Liverpool.

The odds are against it but perhaps those wins will give him the confidence to go for a couple of victories.🤞

David Moyes has a record of W45 D58 L131 in the Premier League against Big Six opponents in his managerial career so 0.8 points per game.

The other potential problem is that we only got 2 points from the other remaining games against Spurs, Sunderland & West Ham earlier this season. ☹️

I assume Roma would have priority over us in Europe & they are currently in a Conference league place. ☹️☹️
Aren’t you a bundle of joy?

People know with Moyes there's not going to be any ceilings smashed though. That's what got him on the wrong side of fans last time around and many fans remember it only too well. He'll always see being in a respectable position with Everton as 'enough'.

He's dumbed us down more than any manager I can remember. That's the feeling most will have of Moyes: a knowledge that he represents survival and at best mediocrity. Some are ok with that, but I dont think the majority ever will be. He cant snuff out the light that many of us still believe in.

There's a middle ground though Dave. Just because he's the right manager for now, doesn't mean he has to be here for 11 years again. He's doing a decent job, and barring a massive cash injection, we're not gonna be troubling the top end of the table any time soon. We're a club who've witnessed first hand the damage a revolving door can do. I find it mind blowing that people would want a manager out who's had one summer here and improved the team.
