2025/26 David Moyes

..."getting a few mins in most games and used out of position once the transfer window closed".

Is it a coincidence that once the window closed he was benched?

When a manager signs;
Aznou
Alcaraz
Dibling
Rohl
George

Then elects to almost never use them meaningfully, it's indefensible.

The only two young players he seems to use are Iroegbunam and Armstrong and that appears to be because both are able to tackle players at a good level and have more experience of English football.

Totally and utterly nailed it

Indefensible, hahaha.

I'll bookmark this and remind you when they're playing for Norwich.

You dont think bringing back Moyes last January when we were in a terrible rut was a good idea ?
Obviously it was,but the transfer policy since is odd to say the least. How much input Moyes has had is a mystery. He allegedly has the last word but Dibling, Rohl, Aznou and now George signed to be bench warmers and Barry the virtual opposite of a CF suited to play in a Moyes set up.

Listen mate, I’ve watched Everton for years. I can’t tell you the number of times I am convinced Everton are going to lose unless we change something and I have been wrong on the vast majority of occasions. If you are the team in the ascendancy in terms of possession etc. and you have a very strong bench then it makes sense to make attacking subs to freshen things up if you are struggling to score. Especially if you have a strong bench. In our situation when we have a good shape, are sitting back but not giving up chances and looking comfortable most managers wouldn’t change anything except maybe fresh legs up front which is what Moyes did. We should have drawn that game, we just dropped off for a second and were punished. Ironically after subs had been made. Against Utd we did exactly the same thing, with 10 men and it worked perfectly. We actually gave away more chances against Utd and most people on here would have made subs mid way through the second half but Moyes held his nerve and we won the game. Managers don’t make subs if the structure is working well.
Utd was one game. Pickford had to make a worldie save late on in that game
Look at arsenal’s goal Ndiaye and Myko both, for not closing Down and stopping the cross, that’s down to lack of concentration due to fatigue
Your mate Villa Tim was taken on energy gels in the 2nf half. 2 he had and Moyes still left him on until the 86th minute. Gana is nearly 37 and has had a tough season with Afcon.

It’s a 16 man game now, yet Moyes still thinks it’s 13/14. Also you make subs to try and win games, or get back into
Them. No coincidence that we virtually lose every game when we concede first.
You mentioned Utd I can mention West Ham and wolves at home 1-0 up, coming under pressure in the 2nd half and he waits until they get the equaliser before making subs, when we could all see the opposition was getting on top and he does nothing. He’s a reactive manager and always has been. As soon as arsenal scored why no throw both Dibling and George on??
Instead he waits 5 minutes and throws George on with a minute to go 😂😂😂

OTOH people were saying the same thing about Dyche and his treatment of O'Brien. Another manager comes in and lo and behold turns out he was quite decent after all. Zat's got five chances to be vindicated there. I'd say your chances of striking forum gold on all five are fairly low.

I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm offering you one possible explanation.

The biggest reason he doesn't go to the youngsters if we aren't winning imo is because he doesn't trust their defending and positioning.

They might offer fresh legs but if we are trying to steal a result at the end they can end up more of a liability than a threat.

Especially away against the league leaders I am not surprised he wasn't throwing gambles on 19 year old wingers or full backs.
You're completely correct. These people have never played football and they don't understand that there are no consequences to their speculations.

Just a load of old waffle And what ifs . The league leaders threw on a 16yr old. Liverpool constantly using a 17yr old.

Like you said yourself he doesn’t trust them defensively even at 1-0 down with 6 minutes to go and we conceded another goal anyway.
It’s why Moyes will never take a team that extra yard. To negative and it grips him like a vice.
Have we got the worst squad in the premier league???
Because we use the least subs
The league leaders had 70% possession and a generational talent on the bench. If you are defending in a low block, holding on and looking to pinch a goal on the break or from a set-pieces you don't go change the players/shape unless you have to. You have a very immature and poor understanding of the game.

Do you magically spawn defensive skills when you wake up on the morning of your 25th birthday or something?

So he’s playing low block counter attacking apparently, yet he leave’s slow players on who’re tiring like McNeil, while he has fresh legs and speed on the bench in George and even Dibling can run with the ball under control.

I have a feeling you have never played the game, maybe a teletext fan

Personally, I hate this idea.

A goalkeeper produces a string of world class saves. Defenders are organised, alert, make great tackles and positional decisions all game. And get nothing for it.

I agree it would make for more attacking games...but football is about both attacking and defending. Scoring more than the opposition is the aim of the game. If you can stop the opposition from scoring at all then you're already part-way there.

(no, I'm not David Moyes)

Are we really calling Iroegbunam 'Villa Tim' now?
