2025/26 David Moyes

Huu
Top 6 regulars?
Finished top 6 in 4 of his last 7 seasons, I’d say that’s pretty regular? Should I assume you’ve preferred what’s followed since?

Right, I vaguely remember. It was A LONG TIME AGO. If we are going that far back, maybe we should be looking at Mourinho, did a lot better than top 6🤣

Nope just a reaction to this below. I thought we played ok against Arsenal but its the same old story with Moyes.

David Moyes has now won just 𝐎𝐍𝐄 of his 77 Premier League away games against Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea: ✅ 1 win 🤝 21 draws ❌ 55 losses :coffee:

Its all Betos and Barrys fault for being crap, BTW Moyes was here when we signed Barry.

Just to add the mighty Sean Dyche has won the same amount against the big 6 away with Notts Forest. He was there for about 4 months.
Hurzeler has double the amount and has been in the league for not even two seasons.
I don’t get the fixation on those games. They’re worth 3 points which is exactly the same number you get for beating anyone else away from home.

With a team with by far the biggest budget in the league. How did he fare with Utd and Spurs? Do you remember the 8 years before Moyes took over when we were nearly relegated every season. If Moyes had have had one quick striker or winger in the Lukaku or Kanchelskis mould we would have won far more games away at the top 4. But we never did.

Mate I watched those games too...my point is, again, it was a long time ago,as was Mourinho's success....NEITHER is relevent in 2026...

Playing devils advocate, I would say that there is a valid mindset that if you are beating the better teams away then you are still beating all other other teams, the obvious upshot is that you are higher up the league.

I think in his first spell, he does this and we finish higher than the best of the rest on a couple of occasions. I think this season, we cannot expect to be winning at these grounds, given the base level. Hopefully, we can get a manager, in when Moyes has done the job he came in for, that will start knocking on that door a bit more than he has, in all his time here.

It is similar to the home/away form. It is psychological. If we swap the away and home form a lot more people would be on the Moyes side of the fence. If we had won at Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal but lost at Brighton, Villa, Bournemouth, again, there might be more of a positive vibe about his managerial spell.

At the end of the day, we are doing just fine this season. If you look at the season as a whole and not pick out individual moments of negativity (or positivity) to fixate on.

We finished higher than the best of the rest on multiple occasions when he was here last time. Sometimes when we literally played large parts of the season without a striker. Even the top teams don't win regularly away from home against the other top teams. This season Arsenal beat Utd away same as us, lost at Liverpool same as us, beat Newcastle away same as us, drew at Chelsea so picked up one point on us, lost at Villa so 3 points down on us and they haven't played City away yet.
