2025/26 David Moyes

If it's the only option put forward to you for the position is Moyes able to make a decision to Veto that or does he just accept his lot and say get them in.

It's the second part of your post that I'm driving at and you can add Rohl to that group.

You'd imagine if he was truly happy with the business and their signings he would be playing them. The simplest answer here is that they were the best options presented to him to give approval on but they still aren't good enough to oust any of the players he's picking instead.
Entirely possible that's the case but it would just raise more questions for me. We may not have got our first choices, and we were in all fairness in a position where we simply had to get numbers into the squad for the season. But with all that said - I find it hard to believe that Aznou was the only left back we could get, or that Dibling was the only winger we could get, for example. We all know we were rejected by a number of players in summer, it's also likely that Moyes ruled against signing some players suggested by the recruitment team as was reported to have happened in January.

Imo, there is a clear initiative from the top of the club to focus on signing and developing young players. Moyes likely felt a need to not rock the boat in summer too much by rejecting signings being proposed, but he knows himself and will have known that they were unlikely to play a lot under him.

Question for me is not about Moyes credentials as a manager, he's proved over a long period that overall he is a good manager in this league. I think it's valid to question if he shares the vision of the rest of the decision makers and higher ups at the club though.

Pickford was signed for 30 million to be our starting keeper, he wasn't a project. He was 23.

Garner was signed as a 21 year old and mostly because Man United were one of the few teams that would allow us to defer most of the payment.

Branthwaite is the only one out of the 3 who we signed as teenager and developed and it was largely speculated he was going to be sold, I'd strongly suggest he would be if he wasn't suffering injury problems.

I'll ask again, how many trophies have all of these clubs you want us to replicate like Brighton and Southampton managed to win selling their best players every year?

Youre posting in response to things I didnt write, I think thats called gaslighting.

Pickford at 23 was young for a keeper. I was posting about wanting us to sign him a while prior to that. I remember how delighted i was when he signed.

Garner as you say was 21 and has been turned into a top premier league player by Everton. I was made up when he signed as well.

Branthwaite was not sold. Under the new ownership he likely wouldnt be sold unless he put in a transfer request or the offer was silly.

I'm not seeing any names of players and the teams you think Everton are developing players for.

Are we developing Armstrong for Aston Villa?

I dont think so

Ive just read the second part of this post and that is the most imaginative nonsense I've seen in some time.

You genuinely don't think players want to sign for Chelsea, United, Spurs, Villa or the RS over us?

There's no responding to that level of insanity.

Which of OUR players would ask to leave to sign for those 5 clubs?

Who of our better players would put in transfer requests to move?

Also, Rohl is the most interesting example out of the signings made as initially Moyes seemed to be very happy with him. Unusual for him to big up a new player in press conferences multiple times. Now he's been frozen out, after his best performance.

Loads of different reasons as to why that might be, but as part of the bigger picture it looks odd imo.

You really don't get it and you never will.

Only about 290 days left til christmas, don't sweat to much waiting by the chimney..
Get what? Please explain to me about how there’s some emotional thing I don’t understand that means we can’t behave like a smart club with a plan

Are we developing Armstrong for Aston Villa? Maybe, did we think we were developing Tony Gordon for Newcastle? No, but that's what happened.

I want more KDHs coming in today and making a positive impact for us and less project signings.

I am hopeful this is because there's a clause about performances that we don't know yet allowing us a way out of committing to buy him.

Again, Gordon and Onana, Richarlison etc were sold under different owners in a different time.

Times change.

New stadium. New players. New manager.

Other teams have also changed both in players, managers, league position and image.

The vibe with Chelsea is that they will pay well but arent going to be challenging for honours anytime soon.

Spurs have gone from "top 6" buying Richarlison and Gray etc to relegation candidates. Etc etc

Weve gone from relegation candidates to 8th.

I think the right approach is a mix of instant impact players and top young players to develop.

To focus on one without the other isnt the approach id take.

Bowen or Nwaneri
Antonee Robinson or Lewis-Skelly

Things arent always so clearcut.

Who are the examples of smart clubs with a plan we should be following besides Palace?
Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth. You’re going to say we’re too big to follow those examples but I think that’s exactly why we should be doing it. If a club like Bournemouth can be shrewd enough to turn nothing club into a top half of the PL one what could a club starting from a much better place do?

We have to find an edge somewhere! Just doing what all the other clubs do takes us nowhere.

Times do change but none of what you posted means we will keep a promising young player here if City come in for them.

Maybe we won't lose players to Newcastle, Villa and Spurs in this new regime. If we focus completely or prioritize on developing talent to sell instead of getting results those players will always look to leave for teams performing better in the league.

I'd rather we focus on improving our league position so we can start attracting those young players to stay here instead of seeing us a stepping stone.

We've gone from relegation candidates to 8th and we've done that by prioritizing the results over developing youth and now you want to change that approach which you're acknowledging has been successful.

And what trophies have they won Ig?

Why would we want to be them?

1st paragraph: I literally named City & Arsenal so im not sure why youre calling me out while underlining my point?

2nd paragraph: Im not sure why youre pushing a narrative of developing players to sell. Its not happened for years.

3rd paragraph: Again ive named players who i dont think see everton as a stepping stone

4th paragraph: Again ive said ALL SEASON Moyes needs to get Europe or develop players. Im not sure what here disagrees with your point?

It seems like youre agreeing with my points while having an alternative view that youre gaslighting me on?

Super confusing dude.
