2025/26 David Moyes

Iroegbunam can travel with the ball as can Alcaraz. Iraola would get a tune out of the players that Moyes hasn't just as Moyes got a tune out of O'Brien and Garner that Dyche didn't. Plus the fringe players like Aznou, Dibling, Rohl etc maybe Iraola gets a better tune out of them? That's what managers do they have a vision and players who seem unable all of a sudden are able to play a way that you didn't think they could because another managers tactics didn't suit them

Its hard to comment on some because of so little game time. Iroegbunam is very inconsistent.
Iraola at Everton with this current squad would be interesting to say the least.
Evertons recruitment needs looking at. I dont think for one second a club like bournemouth go out and buy thierno barry for example. He wouldnt suit their slick quick passing style.

Red Cafe forum comments:

'Last night was an excellent result. It is the sign of a good side when you can claim three points in such games... Everton are picking up points and are absolutely horrible to play against, for everyone. I'm glad we aren't playing them again this season. What an ugly team.'

'Everton's game plan was to charge about into everyone and destroy the game, even if it meant sacrificing any overlaps in wide areas or the box.'

'One of the worst games of football I've watched in a while, awful attacking ideas for both teams, but at least we got the points.
Everton's shithousery was on another level though, they've played like it was a CL final. I guess Moyes set them up to prove a point.'

'I honestly think it's the biggest compliment a team is when an opposition changes the size of the pitch, deliberately leaves the grass longer and then tries bully boy tactics on your goalkeeper. Because it means they don't think they can outplay you. I'd be more annoyed if I was an Evertonian because plenty of teams have shown they CAN outplay us (Brighton regularly, Brentford, and more such examples). So there's really no need but Moyes gonna Moyes.'

'Everton really are the anti football aren’t they, not even any attempt to play any football, and that includes the scrums on the 6 yard line (seriously this [Poor language removed] needs to stop ) Just watching Moyes now post game, what game did he watch thought they did enough to win the game “they hit us on the counter ad they ran away with the win” and “their keeper did very well” FFS Moyes'
The funny thing is he's bang on!

No, He chose to have a slow CB pairing, Branthwaite JOB partnership gives us more than enough pace to play higher up the field.
I know JOB wasn't available last night but playing JB left back is just kin stupid.

All these performances are on the manager his team selections are suicidal and negative, no balance whatsoever, and he scratches his stupid kin head why we are inconsistent. Get rid of him, not now but int he summer.

Theres a reason why Everton have pulled in more points away from home.
They're protected more away.
This goes a bit deeper than just moyes imo. Everton havent addressed tge fullback area since around lucas digne time.

We all agree on that, but the FBs hardly crossing the hallway line is an instruction not ability, not asking them to overlap to create space for Grealish Ndayie or whoever is again an instruction from the manager. Its always safety first and lets see if the low sock boys can do something special.

When they don't we are buggered.

Assuming Iraola will magically improve the players.
It's not even about improving individuals but someone like Iraola is going to coach actual patterns of play into the team, that's just his way as he is more of a coach than a manager. You can argue the toss all you want mate but that certainly isn't going on now based on what we see in games. Moyes biggest mistake this season (imo) has been an over reliance on Grealish, everything has been far too much about 'Give it to Jack and see what happens' fine when it worked but when it didn't and now Jack is injured, we just wait for other teams to make a mistake in games and capitalise on them because Moyes and his mates don't seem to have any other ideas. From someone with his experience, on the money he is on. its poor imo. There is over 150 years of footballing experience on our bench and they have one low ranking Euro trophy between them. In terms of building for the future and creating a foundation its just not enough for me.

Really? You assume the players are being held back. I would argue the tactics are set up to mask their limitations as much as possible.

The squad just isn’t great and it will take some time to improve it.
People said the same thing about old Dychey refusing to play O’Brien.

Anyway, it’s possible that the squad needs improving - and let us not forget that he’s had two windows to sign some fullbacks now - and also that someone else could get a better tune out of the current squad … at home.

If we’re getting back with old flames, I would keep him for the away matches and get Bobby Brown Shoes back to let them off the leash for the home games.

It’d be like that time when the other lot had that Evans and Houllier comedy double act…
