2025/26 David Moyes

But at least he's playing him where he excels. Shame he fails to do it with other players
Oh I agree, it was hugely frustrating watching him under Dyche and fans were on his back all the time and I still see some suggesting he should do that role but he said in a FourFourTwo interview that he prefers to play a bit further forward in a slightly looser role, he was no fan of Dyche's either.

We wouldn't be playing Tarkowski and Keane at the back if it wasn't for Moyes though?

Iraola (and most other managers) would most likely be playing Branthwaite and O'Brien as the cb pairing. Or at least Branthwaite and Tarkowski.
Also on the flip side Bournemouth definitely has some skilled players but Iraola 's system has significantly improved players that were average such as Ryan Christie , lewis cook and kluivert. So this notion Everton has a substandard squad is absurd, are there major areas for improvement? Absolutely

It goes deeper than that. They were just an example of the squad he'd walk into.
Its ridiculous to suggest its a great squad. I'd struggle to think of another club who recruits beto and barry as their strike force.
We're a mid table squad at best. Dewsbury hall signing was going in the right direction.
Tbh it's hard to say what the true quality of the squad is considering I don't think we've played our best 11 once all season. Not to mention the multiple signings we made in summer who are getting no game time.

I think our squad is above average though. Pickford, Branthwaite, O'Brien, Garner, Ndiaye, KDH would all be starters for the majority of the other teams in the league. Those players and the assortment of promising players we have on the bench are enough to make at least a competitive side. 2 fullbacks away from having a really good potential starting team imo.

Team selections are holding us back.

To a degree. But too often we are reduced to checking back and recirculating the ball.

Of all the players, I don't think KDH and Armstrong are the ones that are guilty of that, they actually 2 of the most comfortable in trying to get the ball moving forwards and receiving in tighter spaces. I think it's more the general movement when we manage to disrupt possession needs to be better to exploit space and not allow teams to completely re-organise

Absolute garbage. This squad wouldnt suit Iraola. Last nights goal was a classic example why Everton cant leave that sort of grass for opposition players to expose the lack of pace we have at the back. The two central midfield players last night are not Iraola type midfielders who travel with the ball. Dewsbury hall is possibly the only player who fits that bill.
Clubs like bournemouth employ managers to suit their recruitment so that when iraola moves on they havent got to completely change the set up. Its already in place. Same as why thomas frank struggled at spurs and Andrews hasnt at Brentford.
You're off your head if you think iraola suits the likes of tarkowski and keane.
No, He chose to have a slow CB pairing, Branthwaite JOB partnership gives us more than enough pace to play higher up the field.
I know JOB wasn't available last night but playing JB left back is just kin stupid.

All these performances are on the manager his team selections are suicidal and negative, no balance whatsoever, and he scratches his stupid kin head why we are inconsistent. Get rid of him, not now but int he summer.
