2025/26 David Moyes

Last one from me for now. If you’re one of our better players, how much are you going to want to stay, if we are playing the way we are playing and with some of them being played out of position. If it were me, I’d be looking for better opportunities elsewhere.
Yup. I could definitely see Branthwaite and Ndiaye asking out this summer. Why would they want to stay and play this style of football? Same goes for transfer targets

When he came in last season he was a breath of fresh air. Lots of positivity, trying to get some belief back in the club, and playing on the front foot in games.

I dunno what on earth has happened since Christmas. The positivity has completely gone, the standards have completely dropped, the ambition seems to be back to avoiding relegation again.

The team is just thrown together every week. It's like he picks his 11 favourite players and works out the style and system later. Our best players are repeatedly moved around to accompdate some of our lesser players. We are right bang in mid table but he seems scared to try and go win games.

I dont get it. It can't just be Grealish got injured. There's a lot more to it.

Spot on

Martinez didn’t need to build a team as he had Moyes team.

Martinez had our 1st and 3rd biggest ever net spends at the time while he was here.

You seem to ignore Martinez 2nd and 3rd seasons where he quite clearly showed he couldn’t coach players.

Martinez had Moyes' players playing a completely different way to when he had them. Ball to feet rather than going long all day.

Martinez had a negative net spend over the time he was here; Moyes set 4 transfer records.

Martinez's first season here = our highest ever PL points total and 5th.

Martinez's second season here = 11th and a Euro run.

Martinez's third season here = 11th and two cup SFs.

All of that adds up to a golden era compared with Moyes overall for 12 seasons.

Thought the set up was fine tbh. What really hit home was the lack of quality. Dewsbury hall never had his best game yet i thought he was the only one who might do something. Organised but bland.

BBC match report from last night:

"Moyes spoke in his programme notes about chasing targets beyond the ones Everton have recently been used to going after. In recent seasons, their mission has essentially been to deal with a chronic financial situation and stay up.
A new stadium means new ambitions, and there has been no relegation danger this season. But Everton want more than mid-table security.
The only problem with that is without sufficient resources, juggling Premier League and European football is a fresh strain on resources than can be exceptionally tough to overcome.
Moyes will keep pushing for those loftier spots in the table because it is his nature, but perhaps the top half and no more would not be a bad outcome for the first campaign away from Goodison Park."

This is how he survives here. Getting his media mates to dumb us down the way he does himself.

"Best not little ole Everton qualify for Europe...but Moyes is doing a great job, yada yada yada".

He's got the media in his arse pocket and Evertonians are the ones who pay for it by watching utter muck and winning 3 in the last 13.

I believe his programme notes mentioned the "success" of the season.

I dont bother buying them, but apparently because no one else is performing, its a success were in a European hunt?

Had we have taken a win from

Wolves
Brentford
Bournemouth
Leeds
Man Utd

Just 1 win, and not just the 2 points wed be firmly in a European position.

He did this last time, diluting what "success" is. Just cant be bothered with it.

The more we lose the more he burrows down into an anti-football hole. I don’t understand it, I don’t understand why he thinks his natural rite of passage as an older manager must be to become Pulis and Allardyce.
Yeah, but it's not like he's cultivated anything like a solid defence with all the sacrifices this time round. He's well out of his depth.
