2025/26 David Moyes

What I will say is that even in Moyes’ peak years the good football would tend to happen between March and May. The winters were often a slog.
And a lot of the time the form would magically improve under Moyes, when the season was already over in regards to actually achieving anything of relevance. I call it the big man for the small occasion effect.

You said yourself you didn't know if a new manager could take us higher than 8th with the current squad. Obviously nearly every person on here would say we should be above Brentford but apart from that we are far away from being able to have the consistency to be in the top 6 by the end of the season.

A lot of people might put that down to Moyes and decisions he makes. I think it just reflects the squad we have and realistically we've done well to be where we are.
Disagree. We don't know the capabilities of the squad because 'favourites' will get a game even if well out of position. Moyes is a top-half manager but there it ends. He does not have the mentality to attack. Safety first even if it means repeatedly losing at home. Not the brightest of Gods creatures as the saying goes.

The “favourites” just happen to be the best players….

If everyone who wants Moyes sacked this summer expects the new manager to get top 6 just by changing the current starting 11 and attacking more at home, then it's going to be a tough ride for whoever comes in.

His treatment of Rohl is very questionable, seemed to try to incorporate Rohl in numerous games throughout the season when his fitness wasn't sound , after a notable absence , Moyes was giving a lot of opportunities especially with Gana out for AFCON, Rohl after struggling as he was still getting acclimated from his hiatus , has a n exceptional game against Aston Villa then gets completely frozen out when Gana returns. Gana has been mostly mediocre and Rohl even if Gana is Moyes first choice, should be getting minutes otherwise if there's a scenario due to injury or suspension it could see Moyes depend on Rohl again without any opportunities to continue working on his fitness. Moyes selections do not benefit the health of the players whatsoever
