2025/26 David Moyes

I don't know that depends on the manager. Tbh I have no issue with where we are in the league, however its awful stuff too watch at times. We have recently gone into games where the manager has got his match prep/setup so completely wrong and had to massively readjust to save the game at half time. I'm fed up of watching Pickford hoof the ball up to two strikers, neither of whom want the ball played to them like that. The midfield getting constantly walked through in games because Moyes won't drop Gana and because there is just no general organisation in that area full stop.
There is also the issues with recruitment, I just don't see it ever working. The recent window Moyes allegedly wanted the likes of Sterling and Wilson (older PL experience players) and we ended up with a loan for George who fits the TFG model of 'younger players with a sell on' We have barely seen Dibling and Aznou or Rohl and you can argue night and day the reasons why. This stuff will all come to a head at some point though and there will only be one winner and it won't be Moyes.
I can appreciate the job he did last season and what he will do this one, but I feel we will never ever get to where we want to be under Moyes regardless of time or money.
It’s almost like developing a squad and a style of play takes time!

I dont honestly think it's that risky right now. Our squad isn't good by any means but it's not a relegation squad anymore either. Even a bad manager gets this team to lower midtable and low 40 points.

Similar things would've been said about West Ham, Forest and Spurs at the start of the season. It's a very competitive league and there are some big flaws within this squad that need to be addressed.

An exceptionally dangerous game when you start getting rid of managers because you have gripes with the style of football they play and not the position you find yourself in the league. Just one year after being right next to the relegation zone as well.

I always say if we had an enormous budget and a fantastic squad of players then go out and get a manager in that has experience of winning the lot. Unfortunately that is far from being the case.

Right now for me, there's very little to gain from getting rid of Moyes but a lot potentially to lose if the new appointment doesn't go to plan.
Fine but I don't agree.

If we kept our core players and added two good full backs and a good goalscorer then I honestly think we could be very good.

If this was a club with a competent recruitment team then I'd be very confident. We arent that far away. But I'm sure we will find a way to waste more money on rubbish players in positions we dont even need.

If we get the right players I just don't trust Moyes to set up the right team in a balanced structure where we know how to control games at home and in away games at weaker teams.

You said yourself you didn't know if a new manager could take us higher than 8th with the current squad. Obviously nearly every person on here would say we should be above Brentford but apart from that we are far away from being able to have the consistency to be in the top 6 by the end of the season.

A lot of people might put that down to Moyes and decisions he makes. I think it just reflects the squad we have and realistically we've done well to be where we are.

I'm not convinced about the squad. Think it's very similar to the one that struggled for a long time and could easily find itself down there again if a bad summer happened.

I just think it's incredibly harsh to get rid of a manager who came in facing a relegation battle and in one year has taken us to 8th. Nearly everyone outside the club is going to look at us very strangely if we oust Moyes this summer when all he's delivered so far is progression on what he's inherited.

If my experience of supporting this club for the last 30 years has taught me anything however, it's that we probably will get rid of him and this time next year we will probably be deep into a thread about whether the new manager should stay or go as well.

Brentford are probably a better team than us because they can actually play football though (we should be above them though) I have no idea why you mention top 6, not bothered in the slightest about stuff like that. I want to be able too watch a game and say we have played well for 90 min, I want too watch a game where it starts and we impose ourselves on the other team making them worry about us for a change instead of sitting off all the time. Do you honestly think fans are going to put up with Moyes for another season if he doesn't drastically sort out this stuff with the home form? can you imagine the first few home losses of next season, he will be on very shaky ground with sections of the fanbase and an already awkward atmosphere at matches could become very toxic very quickly indeed. It needs a fresh injection of ideas, he is just too rigid with tactics and game instructions.
Going to leave this anyway as I have done it to death and its becoming a boring subject and Id rather just wait till the end of the season and see what happens, if he stays he stays, he goes he goes, I'm not that bothered.

This squad is far better than 2 years ago for me. Although it started from a very low bar.

But it all comes down to recruitment and I dont know if I trust us to get it right. Until we start signing the right players in the right positions then we won't move forward quickly enough.

And until.Moyes starts using players in their right positions and prioritising a balanced side over PL experience, then we won't move forward either.

We need goals and pace. I dont want to see money spent on anything else until those issues are addressed.

The only thing that will stop that is the manager and his weird fussiness in the market which has posed problems wherever he has worked. I reckon that will all come to a head in the summer anyway
