2025/26 David Moyes

Yes course, that's all about the money isnt it.

Prem is used as a cash cow to save them financially, they take the mick out of it.....Prem teams have just been milked by Lazio.

Loftus Cheek would start for us and about 12/14 prem teams....he left one of the best teams in England, not like he dropped out of 20th place team mate, come on.

Loads of examples we can both use, as its about styles, but mainly money.

Money does not mean any of it is better to watch.

Tonali also wants to go back Italy.

The Premier League is the most popular domestic league in the World, for both attendance and tv figures. It's teams are also dominating in World and European competitions.

If you find Italian football better then fill your boots, but it's nowhere near the same quality.

You're saying that a man who's won the league in 3 different countries, the Champions League, the Nations League, 13 major domestic trophies, has over 100 caps for Portugal, has been named in the World XI, the Champions League XI, and has made the top 10 of the ballon d'or rankings twice would just be an average midfielder if he was playing in 'loads' of European leagues? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHA.

Well, when you put it like that....then no. 😂

I know, but that’s not all on Moyes we’ve needed a right back for I don’t know how long and a left back not much less. Am not sticking up for him here, just it’s a wider club problem that yes Moyes should have fixed but it’s been here longer than him.
True it has,I'd have thought that with his defence first mindset having a natural RB starting would have been his priority, but then we don't know what truly happens behind the scenes. So like you I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Its tactically better than the prem, its harder to score in that league.

The prem is faster and more physical, and has load of money.

Prem is by far and away the most popular league in the world, its marketed very well and load watch it.

McDonalds is the most popular restaurant in world too.

I agree, our attacking play and mentality needs to improve. But those season long trends also show us massively improved on league position from recent seasons.

Surely the manager also takes responsibility for that season long trend?

Absolutely, but given how poor some of our results have been there is also the feeling that we should be higher. The league has never been weaker and we will look back at a missed opportunity.

No one is calling for a mid season sacking but a shake of the hand at the end of a season and a more attacking manager coming in seems like the ideal scenario now.

Is it? The teams finishing in the top 4 always have an outlier on 70+ goals, as do the ones in the Prem, and the rest are on about 50 or so, same as the prem.

The tempo is insanely slow save for 2-3 teams and almost everyone's trying to shithouse a 1:0, I can't call this tactically better.

It's more tactical because it's slower, it's harder to score because it's slower.

McDonalds isn't dominating the highest ranking restaurants globally, nor does it have any Michelin stars.

Well Fabregas has recently said that exact thing.

Its harder to score, less space and very tactical. Its more like a chess game, as they priorities tactics over pace and physicality.
Top scoring strikers never get the numbers they do in the prem..

Its why some players will do better in Prem and some will do better in Italy, depending on their stye.

Spain is better at possession and lots of small fast passing.

Germany is like a prem light, more space for fast players to create chances..

More about styles for me, which is very different to whats the most popular, thats a separate thing for me.

Its slower by design, its slower because they value tactical instructions and the art of defending, over the pace and a gung-ho nature.

If using Michelin stars analogy then, the lets use Ballon d'Or.......Prem don't fare too well in that.

Bring back pace and gung-ho please.
Even if only for one game, ive forgotten what it is.

He can say it and it's probably true that teams that park the bus after 1 min are more difficult to score against, but other than the Goal Machine (TM) Haaland being an outlier from a few years ago, the last 10 or so years have both had top scorers around the 25-30 goal mark.

I get that you like it and that's fantastic, but honestly for a more neutral viewing it hasn't been good for ages. Fabregas himself plays football that is very well suited to Spain, in Italy, to moderate success, and the teams that go gung ho like Atalanta and Napoli tend to win quite a bit more recently too. Conversely, most of the Prem has played a very defensive style in the last few years with emphasis on defending a lot more, and a lot of games have been borefests (we should know, having witnessed a prime example for a while). We currently also play a very Italian way - low possession pressing - and it works only occasionally.

There is an art to defending, but there's also an art to playing for a 1:0 in every single game really. Art is subjective also, so it's fine and I don't want to and can't change your mind obviously.

Italy was just 1 example really, but I watch many leagues, I enjoy the different styles of different leagues.

Como are a breath of fresh air, defo like you say.. Different style has been successful currently...he is also not using 1 Italian player, its refreshing and its upsetting many people Italy. But the will be found out by the Italian tactics eventually.

Like boxing to a degree....styles makes fights etc, and slugfests will draw in more viewers over say a Mayweather 40th win on points.

People often say this because lots of teams are on a similar level of points, but to me the league has never been stronger, and it's a very good reason why most promoted teams can't stay in the league and teams who have instability or marked changes struggle.
