2025/26 David Moyes

We will finish mid table as most posters predicted - DM has set a foundation for a good team in the future - wasting money on Barry & Dyche buying Beto has left us with a bad scoring striker rate - Away it suits us sit back ride our luck & catch teams on the break - at home when we have to take the game to teams it just goes awry - we should have been 3-0 up - & bang Bournemouth fast on the break & in form destroyed us in 10 minutes - our response was hoof ball - how many shots did their keeper make in the 2nd half ?

That's another thing we seem to play okish for 45 minutes as last Saturday showed again could have easily ben 3-0 down instead of 1-0 & played good football to win that game - We had a great chance to push up the table last night but a CF cannot fluff easy chances like that & it cost us -

I did state Bournemouth were very fast on the break & that was my worry as DM persist on fitting square pegs in round holes - we should have won that game as we do struggle to score - guilt chances by Barry & him with his shirt over his head after being subbed for an age told the story sadly IMO ....
Worryingly not one coach or player consoled Barry .....
I feel sorry for the fans who pay big money on a horrible wet evening to have to see that unfold ....
Fair point we are doing teams away in the same way we are getting done at home.. It needs sorting.

We deserved to win yesterday, whereas we probably didn’t against Fulham, over the course of a season, those results tend to even themselves out.

We’re in a bit of a catch-22, though. The league feels weaker this year, so there’s an opportunity to push for Europe, but we’re not quite in a position to properly capitalise on it.

I think the league is actually really strong. Not really any easy games and so many teams being inconsistent because of that.

Maybe with last night, but still doesn’t explain this:

Appreciate stats aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there must be some truth in them, or why would TFG actually go out a purchase a statistical modeling company for their football group……
Even if fans don't agree with them, or argue with their logic, the decision makers at the club certainly seem to value them.
Moyes is a better manager than dyche, but they have a similar set up
In my opinion. It’s toss of a coin football. You set up defensively, keep it tight and stay in games and you will collect points. Last night we missed chances to win,
But Fulham and Brighton also did.

We don’t lose many when we score first, last night was probably the first of the season, we also don’t win many from
1-0 down, we’ve won 2 palace was a late winner and 2 late goals v Fulham. We never go a goal down early and then win 4-1. Whenever we concede first, if you offered Moyes a point he’d snap your hands off. Long term is not a strategy for success, it’s a strategy for survival

We've courted relegation for years so there were obviously quality gaps almost everywhere when he took over. The investment since also wasn't anywhere close to addressing all of that (hence our forward line and CB's playing as fullbacks).... and having final say on anything is still limited by budget (compared to clubs with already far higher value squads). Yet here we are...still 8th in the league.
There’s at least £45m can’t get off the bench.

Going a goal down and not going onto win 4-1 is a really weird thing to criticise the manager of a mid table team for. I can't think of any team that does that.

Really "Better," or just "flavour of the month better?" How many of those, who've enjoyed greater net spends are currently looking up at Everton or just plain unemployed?

Reality is, we saw real measurable improvement as soon as he was appointed. Why wouldn't we give that at least another summer transfer spend, especially given the obvious gaps in the squad?
Not difficult to show improvement when you’re taking over from dyche. Moyes spent a fortune at West Ham, yes got into Europe and won be conference cup. But last 2 season 14th and 9th while conceding goals for fun.

I just want a manager who will play on the front foot and go after teams especially at home, let’s watch some exciting entertaining football, yes we may lose a few. But we’ve got 8 points from the last 9 at home, while playing negative, dour, boring football.

James definitely flattered to deceive. Overall I don't think he improved us greatly over a long period.

My point being, big name glamorous players do are not a magic bullet.
Well, all I'll know is the away form - brilliant as it undeniably is - is unsustainable. And the home form likewise, albeit for different reasons.

I hope these Friedkins have an ambitious succession plan...

I’m sure it has happened, it doesn’t have to be 4-1 😂 but you get the point I’m making, Leeds is the only game at home, we’ve probably dominated the 2nd half after going behind and we didn’t create that much we had an xG of 1.05.

Brentford have beat Newcastle and Man Utd both 3-1 from a goal down , battered Bournemouth 4-1 recently.
Bournemouth beat Fulham 3-1 from a goal down. So teams around us are doing it

did any of the journos ask moyes why the only change he made after going behind was michael keane in the 92nd minute?
Don’t be stupid, Joe Thomas was probably asking how Grealish is doing after his opp and Gulia will be giggling and still talking about his goal celebration and how great it was to see Seamus with him on the balcony at Fulham.

Let’s not forget, these are the same journalists who thought dyche was doing a great job and deserved to take us into the new stadium

Moyes knows his future depends on how his veteran players respond, not so much on the pitch, but in the locker room. He can ignore the younger, newer players, even if it damages their confidence.

His treatment of certain players is a disgrace. With O’Brien out you’d assume Patterson comes in but what’s the incentive for Patterson he could have the game of his life but as soon as O’Briens back he’ll be sat back with his mates Tyler and Merlin. I think we know for certain now who the problem is in the recruitment team, he’s clearly told Kinnear on numerous occasions not to bother buying the players put forward to him as they won’t play. He’s done a good job steadying the ship but I’m very doubtful he’s got what it takes to help us kick on
