2025/26 David Moyes

I think the league is actually really strong. Not really any easy games and so many teams being inconsistent because of that.

I think this is the weakest Premier League in terms of overall quality since 2015/16. The gap between the traditional top six and everyone else has definitely narrowed, but when you see the likes of Sunderland and Brentford pushing for Europe, I’m not convinced that’s because the league has improved across the board.

How do you explain all 9 English teams still being in Europe then?

5 of the top 8 in the champions league
Favourites for europa and conference

Teams in the bottom 3 containing £40m players

The home form is unacceptable. Look, I think Moyes is the ultimate mid-table manager. He'll get you over the line every season without worry. We are basically safe in February after seasons of being worried until the final month. BUT. He just isn't a manager that ill get you to that next level and every season you will have really poor results which make you seriously question his management. I don't think it's necessary to have another season where we let him steady the ship. It's steady. Summer is our opportunity to really kick start this club again.

So we can give it to some random flavour of the month manager because they play amazing football apparently? Wholl then totally unbalanced the side and have us battling relegation within a year?

Yesterday that iriola is supposed to be the second co.ing and Bournemouth were probably the worst side ive seen play at HD and they played like cack when we played them at there ground as well.

Not forgetting we had the top young up and coming manager in silva and he crumbled under the pressure of this club put us in the relegation zone and we all crucified him for it.

Simple fact of the matter is we arent a club that a young manager can come in and bounce round 15th-17th and build for a few years. In the hopes of getting to where moyes already has us but playing the "right way".

The teams prioritized participating in European competitions. This allows them to generate more revenue and attract more fans internationally. Thus, the Premier League is more competitive.

It's explained by the fact that the overall standard of European football right now has fallen off a cliff. Real Madrid and Barcelona aren't remotely at previous levels when Guardiola, Mourinho, Luis Enrique, Zidane, and Ancelotti were at the helm. Bayern, with few top-class German internationals (because German football is in the toilet), are flat-track bullies who will be found out in the last 8. There's no Klopp figure doing bits at another German club. Italian football fell off a cliff 15 years ago and hasn't recovered. We're a long way from the days of Lippi's Juventus, Capello's Milan, or Paolo Maldini now. PSG are an artificial construct. French football is in the gutter.

That said, many of the English sides will hit a wall when they play some of the above in the knockouts. The stresses and strains of the financially doped Premier League always exact a toll.

Those squads are filled with 15 / 20 internationals due to he massive money in the prem.

I also think the prem is rubbish.....the games are not a good watch at all, its hoof & kick and rush football mostly.

Its all ok using 1 season in Europe in isolation, as its not always dominated by English teams.

I’m comparing this Premier League season to previous Premier League seasons. I don’t see what Europe has to do with that comparison. It’s still comfortably the best league in Europe; no other league comes close to matching the intensity and physicality of the Premier League

Some of that is just snobbery at the clubs though isn't it? These Sunderland and Brentford sides are no worse than the sides who are usually in those positions. There's a weird thing where with some of the clubs who aren't traditionally big names people just refuse to accept that they're actually good. I was talking to a bloke on the train home last night was saying Bournemouth were really impressive 'considering you couldn't name any of their players' and it's such a strange way of looking at it, this just seems like more of that same attitude.
