2025/26 David Moyes

Although I'm not Moyes his biggest fan and think his ideas about football are outdated, I do think yesterdays result is mostly on the players. We should have been out of sight before the equalizer. Barry had a nightmare of a game and missed some absolute sitters.

I do think his substitutions were again not up to par though. You dont swap a winger for a midfielder when drawing a home-game imo.

Maybe Brighton (last minute equaliser) and Fulham who lets be honest should have gone in at least 4-0 up HT papered over the cracks a bit. As mentioned already, pick players in their proper positions, pick on merit, less stubborn (although that ship sailed I think) . I honestly didnt see why Patterson warranted being dropped and a braver manager would at least try JOB and Branthwaite as a pairing, Tarks for all his qualities is a hoof merchant. Midfield needs to be freshened up and different combos tried. Forwards - not much we can so there at the moment🥲

The home form is unacceptable. Look, I think Moyes is the ultimate mid-table manager. He'll get you over the line every season without worry. We are basically safe in February after seasons of being worried until the final month. BUT. He just isn't a manager that ill get you to that next level and every season you will have really poor results which make you seriously question his management. I don't think it's necessary to have another season where we let him steady the ship. It's steady. Summer is our opportunity to really kick start this club again.

I understand why people are saying this, whilst it not necessarily my opinion I’m curious who would you bring in that can drive this club to the next level?? And I’m not asking to challenge what you’re saying, I just don’t know who the answer is. I think the big key thing this summer is recruitment in the most desperate areas, full backs and striker!

Nah, it's their scouting and recruitment team. If we got Iraola it wouldn't be enough, we need better recruitment and better scouts. We are way behind Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford who consistently unearth good players for reasonable fees. We are in a bracket with Spurs and West Ham, big clubs who sign below average players for big money.
Yup. Unless we radically improve our recruitment, "flavour of the month hipster managers" are unlikely to improve us. It's why, in my view, we need a renowned manager to attract quality players currently out of our bracket. A Carlo backed with Friedkin money would be a compelling opportunity for us. Moyes was apparently shocked at being turned down so much last summer. But he's never going to attract enough of the foreign stars we would need to kick on in the absence of a proper recruitment team. And ours was basically on gardening leave last summer and away without leave in January.

Away from home DM is in his setting: low defense, well drilled, all behind the ball but at home where imagination and initiative are rewarded hes no good. Plus the massive structural weakness of this team: defensive full backs.
Finally, why can't EFC buy in the same shop as Bmouth?
Because Bournemouth aren’t obsessed with prem experience

Armstrong was ready to
Come on at 1-0 and then they scored and he made the exact same sub. How often do you see manangers readying a sub and then they concede. They tell the player to sit down and
They have a think. Not Moyes

But this is why you
Need change, because Moyes will dictate who we get in the summer. He wants full backs if the profile of O’Brien. So
Myko and O’Brien will get replaced by two O’Brien’s. Doesn’t matter who we buy his negative tactics and poor in game management and subs will remain

He has to get more attacking threat in the side as we are just far too blunt. The easiest way to do that, without putting square pegs in round holes is to get a midfield 2 of KDH and Garner together, Alcaraz in front him and start to give minutes to Aznou and Patterson for balance.

He says we're not scoring enough goals, so instead of hoping that your striker doesnt do his own version of looking like Bambi, get other players in and around it who can be a nuisance as KDH can't do it all by himself.

I completely understand that point too as the managerial market is tricky. In the PL I'd be looking at Iraola if he's open to staying in England. He's young and plays a formation which our players would buy into and would suit.

This perfectly sums up where we are as a club. To move on and be better, to actually win something, we need a new manager.
