2025/26 David Moyes

Following the Arteta pathway though we’d be looking at a significant jump next season. He went from 8th to 2nd. So their fans ‘stuck’ by him for about a season and a half (which included the FA Cup). If he’d got 8th again in his second full season he’d have probably gone.
That jump is like going from 17th to 11th in 12months

Where are we now..

Eh? Like I said, there would need to be context as to what 'patience' entails, because if you're saying would we be 'patient' if it involved a manager taking over today and winning the FA Cup, finishing 2nd three times in three years, and reaching the semi final of the CL, then the answer is very much yes. If that's not what you're asking then how can we answer?

I certainly wouldn't be bothered about changing my stance, maybe you're the type of person who makes a decision and thinks they need to keep the same opinion forever whatever happens, but for me personally I'd be very surprised if my opinion on something didn't change at all over the course of 5 years. There are countless examples of me changing my mind about players or managers on here, I wasn't convinced by Pickford at first but I think he's developed into one of the best players we've had in all my time watching, things change.

If you think it's such a great point that you need to quote yourself and talk about what a great thread it would make, maybe just make a thread about it?
It was a simple post..

Forget about it, i ain't getting in to debate with you if you're already that heated over it..

I answered your question and you told me to read it again? I'm just telling you if the parameters aren't what they appear to be - 'would you be patient enough to not want the manager sacking if he'd won us a trophy and taken us to 2nd within his first 3 years' - then I need you to explain what the question actually is, I don't really see how that's me causing a problem to be honest but there we are.

They’ve lost 5 of their best player in 18 months and Even with that bad run are only a point behind us and With our poor home form im not looking forward to them coming to our place next week. I’m not saying let’s go and get him, though i do think im the summer he will go to a big club

. I just like the way they play, v Liverpool, even getting dominated in the 2nf half when they did get the ball they went forward by passing and moving and attacking as a team. They didn’t boot up to the striker in hope they could pick up 2nd balls

Ive said it many times i like iraola. They spend money as well btw. Their keeper cost 28m. Centre half diakate was 35m. Their forward cost 40m. Its not like they sell and go and replace with free transfers.
The point being made and people can deny it as much as they like is if he was at Everton and hadnt won a game in 12 he'd have this fanbase on his back.
Also goes a bit deeper than just the manager imo. The clubs set up matters. Oliver glasner is another one who's had some terrible spells at palace. But he walked into a decent time at palace for recruitment. He leaves in the summer. Im not convinced the next manager is as lucky walking in to the likes of brennan johnson and strand larsen.
we've obviously improved a bit with the squad of recent times. But certain managers need a different set up to thrive more. Remember when bielsa was being linked with Everton and he took one look at the Everton squad and said i cant do much there. They are not my sort of players. I admired him a lot for that.
You've got to start somewhere but as someone just pointed out. Iraola would have got slaughtered here if he'd started the same as he did at bournemouth. I still remember him coming to Goodison and getting beat 3-0 by Sean Dyche. Everton fans would have hit the roof at the defending that day at Goodison.
There's a few managers id take and iraola is one of them but i also think clubs like bournemouth recruit players who suit the managers they employ.

Maybe I didn't outline everything in the post, I thought it was pretty self explanatory.

No chance was I posting some kind of rules and regulations, it wouldn't be a simple post than..

We would be starting at a different Base point than Arsenal.

God, your confusing me now.

See, this is why it would be a good thread, cos it would be all out warfare from the start.

No chance am I creating it tho

Yeah that’s all I’m saying, I’m not trying to be awkward just saying it’s impossible to answer a question without knowing what the question actually is! Would a manager get patience here if we were boring to watch and finishing 10th every year, probably not. Would they get patience if we were qualifying for the CL, yes. That’s why I said in the first place there needs to be context, the answer depends on what the question is.

We have been stuffed at home 3 times this season already you know. 3-0, 4-2, 4-1 And yet Moyes is still a god amongst some of you. That 3-0 defeat was about his 5th game in charge. He’s been to old Trafford and won 3-0 twice, Moyes finally won there after 300 attempts and his fan boys want a statue.

I just want to watch my team attack and try and win games and play good football in the process and actually watch some entertainment at home. The way Moyes set his teams up , you can’t be finishing 13th that style has to have some meaning to it, Europe and challenging for trophies.

Of course even Iroalo or any Manager has to have success at some point, but a manager who has a style that’s entertaining and looks like he has a plan and coaches the players, will have more leeway from the fans imo. More so than a manager who plays 4 CB’s and boots up to a 6ft 4 striker all game and sets up for 0-0 most weeks.
