2025/26 David Moyes

Difference with Arsenal is Arteta won the FA cup and then within a couple of seasons was challenging for the title and has continued to do so as well as getting to the CL semi final. Irs not as though that fanbase had five years of coming 8th then all of a sudden challenged for the title, they kept professing under Arteta and had forward momentum. Same with Klopp at Liverpool, the fans kept with it because every season they got better.

If a manager came into Everton and didn’t win a trophy in five seasons but took us into champions league football and had us challenging for the title every season I don’t think anyone on here would be complaining!
5yrs is my point..

We dont start 4yrs in, we start at year 1 with no European football on offer..

Everyone would be happy at the end of the process, could they take the wait getting there tho.

Remember there is no guarantees in football, so we would be backing a manager without that guarantee.

Arsenal done it with Arteta, but the fans weren't up for the ride, the board stood by him..

I think the boo’s covers lots of things including the mananger. The home form has been poor and he’s sets up quite defensively, we don’t create much we don’t really attack in numbers, most of the time it’s boot it forwards and hope our isolated striker can do something against 2 or 3 defenders. So I do think they’re also towards the manager .

“think”

think again the boos aren’t at moyes

carry on wishing you lunatic

the clubs been an utter mess for years

and were seeing stability

Following the Arteta pathway though we’d be looking at a significant jump next season. He went from 8th to 2nd. So their fans ‘stuck’ by him for about a season and a half (which included the FA Cup). If he’d got 8th again in his second full season he’d have probably gone.

I like iraola. I dont think the sun shines out of his arse like many others do however. They've let in as many this season roughly as the bottom 3. Even taking into account the sales of his defenders you've got to shut up shop more than that. He went on a worse run this season than when O'neil got sacked at Bournemouth.
O'neil is just possible potential. A year down the line at strasbourg might reveal more.
They’ve lost 5 of their best player in 18 months and Even with that bad run are only a point behind us and With our poor home form im not looking forward to them coming to our place next week. I’m not saying let’s go and get him, though i do think im the summer he will go to a big club

. I just like the way they play, v Liverpool, even getting dominated in the 2nf half when they did get the ball they went forward by passing and moving and attacking as a team. They didn’t boot up to the striker in hope they could pick up 2nd balls

Maybe you need to read the post again mate..

Imaginary scenario ?

That is the scenario I put out their, because It's what people want, but would they survive a gradual process..

So yeah, it would be a great thread and to the point. or are you worried that you will start questioning your own stance once a bit of time has passed by..
Eh? Like I said, there would need to be context as to what 'patience' entails, because if you're saying would we be 'patient' if it involved a manager taking over today and winning the FA Cup, finishing 2nd three times in three years, and reaching the semi final of the CL, then the answer is very much yes. If that's not what you're asking then how can we answer?

I certainly wouldn't be bothered about changing my stance, maybe you're the type of person who makes a decision and thinks they need to keep the same opinion forever whatever happens, but for me personally I'd be very surprised if my opinion on something didn't change at all over the course of 5 years. There are countless examples of me changing my mind about players or managers on here, I wasn't convinced by Pickford at first but I think he's developed into one of the best players we've had in all my time watching, things change.

If you think it's such a great point that you need to quote yourself and talk about what a great thread it would make, maybe just make a thread about it?

Looking to head back to Spain by all accounts.
