2025/26 David Moyes

We then spent a few bob... replacing 9 players that left for free. Is a bit that constantly gets dropped off.

And the "few bob" we spent was less than 12 other teams in the league. Most of which already had better squads than us.

They would all likely be favourites for Europe ahead of us then.

They all could have been kept if we wanted. We decided we didnt want them.

Unlike when we had to sell Gordon, Iwobi, Richarlison etc.

People clinging on to relegation like a pissy comfort blanket. Again - the last 2 seasons we've earned the points to be closer to Europe. We're talking 20+ clear.

We then signed the players to build on that - we were never going to be in trouble this season.

Genuinely I doubt it. They’re new owners and I think they would always have wanted to put their own stamp on it, they’ll have known dyche wasn’t particularly popular with fans and his football is awful to watch, we’ll never know for sure but I honestly can’t see any realistic scenario where they kept him on (I’m not counting us finishing 7th or him completely changing his style of play as being realistic). Again, ive got no interest in defending dyche or even discussing him really, i was just commenting on what seemed to me like a fairly obvious bad faith argument.

The answer is no.

TFG were going to sack him for Rangnick after his full season when we earned the points to finish 12th, before they walked away in July.

Dyche was never in TFGs plans. They just hoped he could get to the season end to get their preferred choice.

Given that they didn't sack him when they came in and his record was atrocious, I think if he had achieved what Moyes did in the second half of the season then he very well could have won himself a new contract.

We will never know unfortunately because he threw in the towel.

And when we decided we didn't want them it necessitated spending a few bob so the squad wasn't just 14 or so players.

People aren't clinging onto relegation, they're rightfully pointing out that until Moyes shown up we were seen as a relegation outfit and that this affected the level of quality of player willing to sign for us.

Yes Dyche won points the year before that was deducted but all people remember is that we were in three relegation battles before Moyes turned up.

Excuse me while I don't believe it.

Last one from me because it’s going off topic but this was literally the exact same bad faith argument that I commented on in the first place. It’s daft to say ‘given they didn’t sack him when they came in’ as if that means anything. Theoretically it made total sense to let dyche see out the season just doing the bare minimum to keep us up and have a fresh start in the summer when they also wouldn’t need to pay him off. There were hundreds of pages on here last year of us all agreeing that was what was likely to happen, it’s a bit weird that we’re pretending otherwise now.

Nobody is saying it wasn't likely I'm saying it wasn't a certainty.

Exactly. Glasner is a prime example. The margins in the PL are so tight that once a squad senses some managers or players aren’t committed anymore levels drop and results with it.

That’s why I agree there needs to be a decision this summer on Moyes cotnecat from the owners, either back him and extend or get a new manager, we can’t go into the season with a lame duck manager.
There was me thinking that Palace selling their best players had something to do with it!

Some utter nonsense in here. I’ll tell you this too - the only people even considering binning Moyes in the summer are posters on here.

100% will not have even crossed the minds of TFG.
Most companies are not constantly looking for reasons to fire their most important employees when they are doing well so they can “roll the dice” with a moonshot pick.
