2025/26 David Moyes

Shame you completely ignored the context part to make that garbled point. ‘Equal footing’? One is in the last year of his contract under an owner who is actively selling the club, all the players manager and owner know Dyche and Moshiri won’t be there long after the takeover. The other is the new manager under brand new owners in a new era with Alcaraz through the door.

Equal footing indeed.

Hahahaha desperate straw grabbing that

Do you genuinely think they’re the same conditions?

How about the Friedkins announce this afternoon that they’re selling the club next season (at some point tbc), Moyes isn’t getting a new contract but will stay on for his final year, then in the summer we have to sell to raise a transfer profit.

Then see how committed everyone is at the start of next season and tell me again how the situations are exactly the same

They were the exact same conditions.

It was the exact same team. Exact same net spend.

One manager is crap, the other manager wasn't.

You keep telling yourself otherwise if you like but you're only kidding yourself pal. Nobody else is falling for it.

You are such a simpleton is laughable.

New owners come in, manager changes, new player brought in.

‘Exact same conditions’

Laughable one eyed agenda ridden drivel

The only person to blame for Dyche going into the last six months of his contract and not getting a renewal from the Friedkin's for the length of contract they gave to Moyes is Dyche himself.

Had he done a better job they would have happily extended his contract but it would be very silly to do that when the fella had won 3 matches in 19.

He only has himself to blame.

They were never keeping Dyche. Grow up.

It's this exact scenario that makes me think we should part ways with Moyes in the summer. We saw the effect that it had with Dyche, and when Moyes was at West Ham, and now with Glasner at Palace; having uncertainty (or certainty of leaving) around the manager does seem to have a big effect on performance so i'm not overly keen on the idea of us just looking to keep Moyes until the end of his contract. That leaves us with 2 options, either twist in the summer or extend his deal and keep him here longer term. I've been a fan of his for a long time and there's no doubt he's done a good job at getting us safe last year and in a decent enough position this year, but I honestly just don't think I can face the prospect of committing long term to the same type of boring pragmatic football we've been anachronistically wedded to for so long. I don't advocate changing because he's doing a bad job, just because I think at some point we have to change the way we do things and if not this summer, when.

But why did they not sack him straight away then. Very strange behaviour to come in and not want the manager there but keep him there anyway?

Or, maybe they were seeing if he could prove himself and he completely and utterly failed, in that regard. You are saying he gave up, not a personality that I would want to be defending.

Moyes came in and said, OK, here is what I can do. And, it was so much better than Dyche. They were under the same owners for similar amounts of time. Both managers should be trying to show that they could take us out of trouble and be trusted with a bit more money coming in. One of them seemed to completely give up, as soon as they arrived, according to you?

I think the commonly held belief is that they wanted to wait until the summer to make changes, which makes a lot of sense. Ideally Dyche would have muddled through to the end of the year and we'd have had a proper fresh start, but results were bad and Dyche apparently believed he wasn't able to get any more out of them (again, I think this is fairly well established as an issue within the game when there's a belief a manager won't be around long term) so they decided to make the switch earlier. Personally I think it's disingenuous to suggest there was a serious chance of Dyche being kept on beyond the end of last season, I don't think that even crossed most people's minds from the day he was appointed to the day he left.

Exactly. Glasner is a prime example. The margins in the PL are so tight that once a squad senses some managers or players aren’t committed anymore levels drop and results with it.

That’s why I agree there needs to be a decision this summer on Moyes cotnecat from the owners, either back him and extend or get a new manager, we can’t go into the season with a lame duck manager.

Oh right, so it was down to me showing a young team, that you are now referring me as the top pro Moyes part of your 3 groups.

Really, you should be looking at that group of lads positively, whatever managers name is above the teamsheet..
I have nothing but respect for all the players, from Keane Tarks and Mcneil down to Adzou and Dibling. They have all achieved something most of us could never dream of doing. I just dont thing here in 2026, Moyes is the man to get the best out of the squad, thats all.
