2025/26 David Moyes

What makes people think Moyes doesn't want youth anyway? He signed John Stones, for example. He won't sign players just because they are young though. He will want players that have a high ceiling that can improve the team over time. With young players you also have delayed gratification. When Dibling begins to improve and establish himself noone will care he took a while to get going.

For some context Moyes signed him but never played him.

Baines - Everton - England
Coleman - Everton Captain - Ireland Captain
Stones - Everton - City/Multiple Trophy winner - England.

Seen these 3 names mentioned today, not bad careers after not instantly starting under Moyes..

Honestly I think that points to Moyes not having full control on transfers. Both things can't be true that he doesn't want youngsters and has full control.

I remember one presser where he was talking about Dibling and Aznou being good long term buys for the club. I reckon he's bought into this as part of the reset. I genuinely think Moyes has the health of the club at heart and doesn't want to go down the road a string of other managers did by demanding their players now and then we end up with a seriously unbalanced overpaid squad.
I reckon, don't know ofc, that Moyes would love to be the one that got us back competing in a sustainable way. Bar the Jack Grealish loan, most of our players bought have 2 to 3 contracts in them. That's not a manager that doesn't like, or doesn't want to play younger players
Wow, you are giving him a huge amount of credit there! Hard to believe a manager who constantly changes the team after a win so he can get Keane back in it and refuses to give Aznou any real playing time " has the health of the club at heart" before himself. More likely is he's like most successful EPL managers and has a huge ego and doesn't like to be told what to do.

I’m glad to see net spend and context is now being recognised once again when assessing managerial performance on the grand old team forum.
It’s a step forward but I think there’s been a lack of consideration for the quality of the pies at the new gaff and how that affects fan morale and therefore progress on the pitch.

And you are giving him no credit
Perhaps the reality lies somewhere in between

Sunce you enjoyed it here's some more net spend context for you.

Dyche and Moyes had Everton squads last season with identical net spends. Let's see how they got on with this equal footing?

Moyes had us in top half form and Dyche had us 16th looking at relegation with 3 wins in 19.

Thank you for your attention to this bit of context about net spend.
