Those of you who are Church goers will hear the Beatitudes on Sunday in the Gospel.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, the gentle, those who mourn, who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, those persecuted in the name of right.

Could do with more world and national 'leaders' taking note and living accordingly.

Sadly I am very pessimistic about what we see every day.

That’s the only hope, but there are a few concerns.

Tactical voting won the day for Labour at the last election.

That was after fourteen years of conservative governments where absolutely everyone was sick of them.

Is there the same appetite out there to stop reform? I’m not sure.

Also, there’s a lot of movement from Labour to greens. Will these people hold their nose and vote Labour? Again, not sure.

I just hope people realise the risk they’re taking voting greens in places where reform are leading the polls.

This is the concern. There will need to be a huge effort, well publicised and promted to get everyone to agree to follow the same idea.

What about Lib Dems? Id rather Sir Ed for sure. Can anyone of the Labour/greens/lib dems form a coalition?? Probs not

As Harold Wilson said, a week is a long time in politics. Next UK GE won’t be for two to three years, barring something untoward happening. Plenty of time for Reform to eff up some more. Plenty of time for Labour to replace Starmer with Burnham for example and for things to change.

Starmer appears to be hell bent on shooting himself in the foot. At the very time Russia are doing their best to bomb Ukraine back to the stone age Starmer is swanning around China crowing about making a trade deal with the very country that is supplying much of the tech that is enabling Russia. On a local level Reform must be smashed. There's a real danger that disillusionment with Labour nationally will see these Reform slugs take a few council seats on Merseyside - and when that lot gain a foothold they're like on a blanket - very difficult to get off.

I notice that today Vince Cable ex-Lib Dem leader is calling for a united front with Labour in Gorton to see Farage off. That sounds like sensible politics (unless the Greens stand a good chance of winning, in which case they should vote Green in Gorton).

While we're at it: those two organisations funded by Musk via fascist organisations like Britain First: Operation Raise the Colours and Flag Force UK should be made to take every one of those UJs and St George's they've put on our lampposts.

There's absolutely no way the vast majority of locals in the communities those flags are flying in are represented by them and by what they stand to mean currently. There's nothing organic about them. They're an unsightly blight on our lives. The coppers and local authorities should be forcing them to take them down instead of standing aside like cowards. Local election here today…, devastated to say reform won, fuming that I never even received a voting card. About 15,000 people live in my town, total turn out was just under 1600 … it shows people are so disillusioned with politics they don’t even bother to vote
