2025/26 David Moyes

I find myself massively conflicted with Moyes .

No doubt that the results and performances have improved immeasurably from last season but that was an incredibly low bar under Dyche.

However I find it staggering that an experienced manager cannot identify and correct the most obvious problem in our team that is holding us back - a lack of a right back.

I'd also prefer our manager to set us up and employ tactics to win a game rather than lose it.

If he returns O'Brien to RB and / or sends Armstrong back to PNE that will tell me that he's not learned anything.

Minimum expectation for the season now ( given that we meekly exited both cups ) is top 8. Anything less and I think he should go in the summer ( actually I probably think he should go in the summer regardless)

David Moyes keeps us clear of relegation and also clear of winning trophies, if you want to just watch a game of footy every week then he's the man.
If you want us to push on and become a regular top team again then he's not the man for that IMO.

Just to add he is partly responsible for the lack of ambition our fanbase have, like being content with not being in a relegation battle.

A lot of the time those perceived lack of ambition posts are really more like short term realism.

If I say that I am happy with the work Moyes is doing, considering we have had 4/5 seasons of relegation fodder is that a lack of ambition?

Long term ambition is to keep on improving. Moyes, for me, is a manager who can give us that (hopefully) short term relief from worrying about what is behind us. Then we can start to realistically look ahead of us.

This. Him and Kenwright broke this fanbase. Prior to that nexus we weren't just happy to survive we had aspirations to win something. Now we have a whole generation of fans that think top half is an achievement. It makes me so sad.

City still in all 4 comps this season, When i say become a top team again i mean competing in latter stages of the cups and pick up 1 or 2 cups in the next few years and be in and around the CL places quite regular.

That's doable, with the right managerial appointment and good scouting.
Easier said than done but its doable within 3-4 years.

Newcastle have done it
Villa are getting there
Palace did it, FFS!

Agreed but there are times when we have to seize an unexpected opportunity when it arises and I’d suggest this season is one. I think being 11th given the availability headaches we have had since the Chelsea game mean a European spot is up for grabs and it would be a missed opportunity (even if only loans) if we fail to at least strengthen the full backs again and positions. That will be as much down to Moyes as it will the recruitment team and the board

Being in relegation battles for a number of years before Moyes mk2 is the reason our fanbase are currently content with not being in a relegation battle
You can't put that on him

What, top four and winning a European trophy?
This mindset is exactly why we will always happy clap for the 7th place trophy and never progress. This is what Bill did to the club. Completely ignore the fact that we got nuked out of the cups in the very early rounds or that he persists with O'Brien at RB when Keane is healthy and refuse to sign actual players to make us a functioning squad. Use these silly strawman to feel good about the club. Dur Champins leg nD tRoPhY. Hilarious
