2025/26 David Moyes

The worst thing about press conferences is when they ask a manager how he thinks what kind of a job the opponents manager is doing expecting them to say something different to a platitude in some form or another. It's a complete waste of a question and time
It's all niceties and clichƩs. Used to irritate me no end when I worked in sports media (another life a long time ago). But I know why it's done -- don't give the media anything they can sensationalize.

Most posters who don’t really want him regularly mention what they don’t like about him, it all should be clear to most fans regardless if your own opinion.

I personally see him as very arrogant and because of how low we fell and the environment created by Blue Bill he saw himself as bigger than the club and played us down constantly. I was very tired of him by the time he left, and it’s a pity Bill didn’t go at the same time. His general demeanor and comments after he left just confirmed that opinion for me. If he’d won something or had a real go in big games I could understand it. Just my and other fans opinions, I’ve no issue that others see it differently

Beyond that, my biggest disappointment right now is this is supposed to be a new era, and whilst I’m delighted we are not an absolute wreck of a club as in recent years, it’s very uninspiring and very ā€œEverton thatā€ to have our new era kicked off with something I’ve seen a million times before.

But he is doing a very good job like I say, and it's great to see people excited instead of utterly terrified!

I just don't think we need to be getting at each other for what I think are reasonable stances on a manager we all know inside out

(Leaving aside the main wum whose opinion should be ignored I think)
Whilst I don’t agree and whilst I am in the pro Moyes camp I appreciate the balanced and logical view on why you don’t like Moyes. I think when you have manager with so much history it’s hard not to have an opinion one way or another.

It’s not for any of us to convince others of what we think is the correct view, truth is I can see in your response that there’s logical reasons as to why you dislike him, opinions I think hold merit.

The problem is on this subject especially certain poster just like to fan the flames!

Thank you, and I completely understand fans who were behind him fully til the end and would have had him back at any point. It’s just not my preference.

Agree that it would be easier to discuss without one poster

I read your post twice and can’t extract from it why you don’t like him. Because he’s a bit arrogant and he left us is all I can decipher.

Odd, but long may his good performance as Everton manager continue.

Well I led with the bit about all of this being repeated throughout the thread so I didn’t want to go through a list of things I don’t like about him.

I didn’t say a bit arrogant and I didn’t mention anything about the act of leaving us.

Your reply tbh just sounds to me like you don’t want to consider that others are not feeling the same excitement you are about having him back, and it’s an exchange that’s already been done in this very thread

That’s all pressers in a nutshell.
The managers hate it. They give off-the-shelf answers to every question asked.
Moyes just sits slurping his cuppa, eyeing up Guilia and frowning at the fella from Premier League Productions.

I’m not excited about Moyes being back at Everton.

What isn’t up for debate is that Moyes has made Everton a better side who are now competing at the right end of the table.

He’s always done it… it’s just what he does. He takes sides and gets them playing in Europe regularly. He did it first time round here; and it’s likely if he’s given time he’ll do it again.

Personally, I’m painfully bored of the lazy (and incorrect) pops at him. ā€œDivvering Daveā€ or ā€œhe’s too negativeā€. It’s nonsense. He is (and has been) one of the best Premier League manager around. Just enjoy him whilst he’s here and dust off that passport.

And that’s all fine, but I am bored of the dismissive posts reacting to any criticism of him.

I don’t really have any opinion of the dithering thing but I do believe he is more negative than I would like. He is a %s manager and it’s not my cup of tea. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it but it’s not for me.

I don’t think it’s nonsense to call him negative as there’s a lot of evidence to suggest he is. It’s also true to say he had us playing some great football at times, it’s just in my opinion the dour % football was more prominent.

He has done very well since he came back, everybody is saying it. Personally think the league is a bit of a weird one though with a win or a loss sending you down or up several places. Let’s see where we are at end of season.

Can you show me it?

No, I don’t have that much interest in the conversation as it’s done to death. That he is a % manager in my opinion will mean he will be more negative than positive as a rule. The football I watched for the most part showed me this. You disagree. As I say, that’s fine
So there’s not evidence to confirm he’s negative?

You are baiting him to bite mate, he has already explained that it's just a difference of opinions.

You just said yourself You weren't happy with him coming back..
No I didn’t - I said I’m not excited by it.

And I’m not baiting. You shouldn’t post that there’s ā€œloadsā€ of evidence to suggest he’s negative whilst being unable to provide said evidence.
