Don't quote me on this, but I think Liverpool severed ties with him after some trouble he got into as a kid (14-ish).

Ahh ok, ill let him off as it was obviously Liverpool's fault, they don't do youth over there.

If this kid was in our academy/reserve team, Evertonians would be calling him the "next Rooney". FFS the kid has ability oozing out of him. If we can get him, it's a coup. The Coleman comparison is apt. How many would have said he was "ready" prior to last year. The lad just needed a little time and the opportunity to play. Well, last time I checked we have a gaping hole on the left. No reason to think he couldn't slot in within the next year or so.

These are the kinds of deals we HAVE to do to compete. I look at a team in Spain like Sevilla who are masters at scouting and bringing in young or underrated players and then turning them into stars. Name the last big money signing Sevilla have had? Yet they are consistently in the CL and Europe and play an entertaining brand of football? Why? They have a great academy and a great scouting network. We can do the same.
Good post goes to show what can be achieved with the right attitude planning and business acumen.

Ive just seen on NSNO from someone who is apparently a Tranmere Rovers youth coach that a deal for him to sign for us in the summer and then be loaned straight back for the season is imminent and that one or two personal issues need sorting first, the fee is believed to be as low as £400k!.

Could be a load of bollox but if true, what a steel that would be, no doubt there'd be add ons and things and a percentage on any future fee we would get for him but getting a talent like him for £400k!. Good piece of business if true.

I love what I've seen from this guy and I'm all for pushing for his signature but I don't see how the fee can be so low if he's so highly rated. And shouldn't there be a host of clubs fighting to sign him? I'm missing something here I reckon as I don't know any reason why Tranmere would do us any favours - unless we're giving something back in return of course. Hmm.

As far as I am aware Jennings only signed a short term deal with Tranmere (think it expires Summer 2012). That plus the fact that Tranmere are skint is most probably the reason we are getting him for such a low price. From what I have seen of this lad he's got what it takes to make it at the top level. It's not often you see someone play and think ****ing hell this lad's good!!

I WANT EVERTON TO BUY THIS KID.

I'm not going to post the reasons why on here.

The more we talk him up the higher the price could go.

INSTEAD... GET IT SORTED KENWRIGHT. NOW

Very true. Not all players develop at the same rate. All that matters is how they end up when they're mature.

When Leighton Baines was a kid, he was a decent footballer but there's no way on earth I would have guessed he'd go on to play top level.

It's hard to spot really good talent, but when you see something you snap it up. Dale Jennings oozes it.

We may not end up with the guy but as you quite rightly say JD its how we need to approach our transfer dealings if what we are dealing with is to have little or no transfer funds for the forseeable future. There is a huge compromise to be made in this area of the market all the same. We are not going to get Rodwell quality for example from the off and I would say that is pretty much accepted by any team involved in this kind of transfer business for fees up to a couple of million or so.

We've learned a little that from Garbutt, Gueye & Silva that they are a fair bit off 1st team ready (maybe less so Gueye now as he's had a small amount of game time). Any coach worth their salary needs to have a pretty good idea that any incomings have got a good chance of training on into their 20's at Premier League standard or that they'll be at least good enough to recoup their fees for profit. Dale Jennings appears to have many of the natural instincts that can't be taught and that goes a bit of the way to helping any coaches decision who may be interested in taking him on board.

Back at FF bar those already mentioned Baxter & Wallace are 2 other youngsters coming up to JR's age who should really be kicking on now. Fair enough if they've not got it in their locker but again it would be a shame since they've been hovering around the 1st team squad for a couple of years. We know we've got some talented youngsters in our ranks but it would nice to see a few break through over the next 12 months, complemented by 1 or 2 buy ins for modest fees.
