Cycling thread

Old toothbrush and some gentle soap and water? That seems to work for most shoes, but not sure why cycling shoes would be different.

Drying shoes can be tricky, although i presume that's easier with cycling shoes than with running shoes. but if you need to dry shoes, putting them in front of a refrigerator blower (usually at the bottom in front on US fridges) can provide a constant low heat source (but can also make your kitchen stink if your shoes stink).

Mike Broadwith broke the Edinburgh - London record yesterday - riding 17 hours 42 min. Previous record was set in the 80s at 17 hours 47 so it was very close, needed a massive last effort through the centre of London.
Hopefully should get some media exposure as his LEJoG record from a couple of years back was absolutely inspirational stuff.

Brave brave effort but world record not on the cards for him today.
54.5 k is heroic, added an extra 1.5k to his last go when he broke the record, and slightly further than Wiggins WR distance. But 500m off Campanaerts current mark which is quite a bit.

Be interesting to hear what he says post event as I think he was quite confident that he could break it.

I thought that tbh, he sold it. He has another for sale but reckons I ask too many questions... he's an hours drive ffs course I'm gonna try work out what it is, i nearly set off to wakefield the other day then realised it was a 2005 GIANT frame & forks

this is the other for £325

has a cpl of broken spokes & he says it's a 9 speed but has a 10 speed cassette, so repairs & parts required to be right really. If I found out it was worth as much as the trek i wouldnt mind so much, again he cant tell me much about it. Might turn up with a ton & say "this is deffo robbed mate, a ton or the bizzies are coming."
This bike has turned up for sale again, fella wants £300 but I know he paid less & judging by his pics he's used it a bit this summer but poss just covered in dust.
Anyway the only bike that it matches after asking the question on twitter & getting some help it appears to be or a version of an Intense Hard Eddie, the guy that told me said has worked on a few & even if one of the chinese frames they're still of great quality & extremely light.
Gonna go get it if he answers my messages tbh, I have to keep up with her flying machine somehow.

The fella didn't answer so I was all set to make a 3 1/2 hr drive to get a Scott Scale Carbon Hardtail, I delayed a bit cos cba with a full day to do it although it is in in immaculate almost unused condition but this came up and it's only an hour away so I'm off to get it in the morning.

yes I know it has a flat tyre.

alarm bells all over the place when I went to see that, he dropped by £100 plus a box of tools, bike was immaculate tbh but too many bells.

So I carried on top Sunderland & got the Scott, looks like it was taken out once, snapped the hanger & put it to 1 side never to use again, polished it up & it's basically a brand new bike that's 11 years old.

Hanger sorted (had to wait for a torque wrench) after finding someone in Ellesmere Port selling a Scott 2 pack for a tenner, derailleur cage needed a bit of straightening but that's also sorted & all working fine. Just need a shock pump now to check the forks with being sat so long, may as well do them properly now that I've found th'instructions online.
