We're Everton not Halifax Town. We should measure progress in terms of silverware.

Probably a generational thing.
When you create expectations that are currently implausible you're just going to make yourself miserable, is that something that can be attained in time if the proper long term actions are cultuvated to put us in a position where some ambitions are viable? I believe so, but to demand that now when we had one of the lowest premier league net spends in 5 years is just absurd

Change your vote as/when.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic at the moment... I'd say a 7.

We apparently have a few quid to spend this summer, sign some full backs, keep Grealish, some pace out wide and someone like Liam Delap and I think we'll be top 7.

If we do sneak into that Conference League, I just hope we don't allow our recruitment to go down depth rather than quality - we made that mistake under Koeman.
I reckon you've opened a new tube of biscuits.

Lukaku, Grealish loan, Anderson, Robinson, Munoz. Depends how we finish, if we were to get a euro spot next season we'd need two elevens.

Travers...................................................................................................Pickford
Patterson Tarkowski Keane Myko........................................................Munoz O'Brien Branthwaite Robinson
Dibling Iroegbunam Gana Armstrong McNeil.......................................Ndiaye Garner Anderson D-Hall Grealish
Beto........................................................................................................Lukaku

Maintaining a base eleven that can squash lower league sides in the cups and the promoted sides means keeping the strongest side primed for the biggest games.

This season has shone a light on the squads with games and less depth (villa, newcastle, spurs) vs a side with depth and no games (man utd).

As referenced above, there's no point setting up for failure and being left in the gutter with a load of naff players no one wants, it's about preparation and having quality spare to overcome unforeseen difficulties.

Note: Also see where we stand with a first season served in BMD, and more importantly what ST uptake looks like. There's quite a lot riding on our next 9 games, once again a sniff of europe is there and it'd help sell next season and a summer of signings

Cautious 7.5/10

Some shocking suggestions there Rita, trying to break the club with old overpaid players?

A 6 for me. We're right at the top end of where I think we can get to and its just a case of if we can hang in there by picking up some big wins.

I think this season is a great chance to get Europe, so if we can Europa conference then its been an 8/10 season. Its so close though and we could easily end up 14th and then that's a 4/5 out of 10 season.

The only thing worth it in football is winning trophies. I scored that possibility a very optimistic '4'.

We're miles and miles off that.
The Conference League is far more winnable than the FA Cup or the League Cup. As well as a trophy (which shouldn't be laughed at), it's a route to the Europa League, which itself is winnable.

If we qualify for Europe this season, the route to trophies and more success opens out. Whether we would take the chance is another discussion.
