Why's anyone arsed about the Jaguar rebrand?
Can't understand why people feel so deeply offended about branding
Some people just like to get angry about things. I don’t personally think it’s a great advert but it doesn’t wind me up. I’m more interested in seeing the cars they come out with given this is likely to be a huge shake up for the brand. Which I guess is what they were going with in the advert.

The reason people on one side are shocked is that the company appears to have pivoted from their historical image -- think James Bond type ownership -- to something completely different.

They needed to do something due to awful sales for a few years (since they actually brought in a number of the same marketing people doing the rebrand).

The man in charge of the campaign is a Gay big time promoter of LGBT awareness which of course is hugely different from a Jaguar owner (James Bond wannabee). He's setup 15 DEI discussion groups which has led him in this rebranding direction using 800 people under him :o

Existing customers are offended, just as many Evertonians would be if the club became a pro Trump satellite.

Theyve basically stabbed their client base & willingly destoyed their history in one go.

The history of Jaguar and the brand was the main reason they sold any cars -- theyre known to be unreliable.

It would have been a genius move to do this and then keep throwing out this weird ads until a sudden car launch and it being clear that this was a joke.

From a marketing / sales perspective theyve said they wont be launching any new cars for the forseeable future while they adjust to their full EV line (only selling EVs now).

They said they would only be selling second hand cars for a year and old stock. But how will they generate revenue from this when theyve just laughed at their existing customer base?

So they have:
1: Destroyed their existing customer base
2: Destroyed their 12month revenue projections
3: Launched a rebrand without having anything new to show / sell

If they've got 800 people internally to do a rebrand under this 1 guy then it sounds like they should have done alot of cost cutting. Also fired him and his team as their sales have tanked since he joined.

Its a hugely bullish move for EVs which i read will be the ONLY (?) cars sold in the UK in 2030? Is that true, seems mad.

You seem to be mixing James Bond up with Austin Powers, which really sums your intellect up neatly. Bond is primarily associated with Bentleys (in the novels) and Aston Martins (in the films). There are also short periods in which he drives a Lotus (Roger Moore) or a BMW (Pierce Brosnan).

STOP GETTING BOND WRONG!

Won't anyone spare a thought for the wannabee James Bonds?

I didn’t know how people had time to worry about this, when they’re spending all their time raging about gender neutral bathrooms, but then I saw Elon had tweeted about it, and it all became clear.

Considering how people feel about media manipulation, it’s amazing how easily their attention can be directed at the whims of a billionaire to completely irrelevant stuff.

You could have saved yourself some time and just posted the Daily Mail article you have basically just recycled. It’s almost verbatim.

That link says about:blank for me.

I've read about 20 articles on the topic, not sure why I would post them rather than responding to an opinion?
