Lancs v Warwick in the Bob Willis Trophy game to be played over 5 days at Lords next week. I can't summon up too much enthusiasm for it at the moment and I doubt the players from both sides can either.

It was a glorified 'charity' game at the end of the season for me, rather like the charity shield in football but without the crowds. Tellingly the Hampshire based commentator on the Lancs last county game remarked well at least we won't be in the Bob Willis trophy game now.

It's not a play-off game like in rugby or the football championship, the county championship and the season are already effectively over. Warwickshire won the title and rested their star bowler Chris Woakes for this meaningless farce.

It’s ridiculous. It’ll be like the Ryder Cup was, with only home fans allowed, thus creating a weird hostile atmosphere.
I’m guessing at least half the England squad won’t go with such restrictions in place.

I thought England, Wales & Scotland having different rules was bonkers enough, but Australian states having their own rules? Strewth.

I really fancy England, vastly experienced, only four players under the age of 31, one younger than 28. Used to winning, especially in tight matches, explosive batting and canny bowlers. There's plenty of other teams though with a shout - India, West Indies and New Zealand in particular.

Not sure it makes a lot of difference really. No County plays all the others in it’s Division and it will be cast away to March/April and September again anyway.
