Cricket

I think they need to play Woakes every match where possible to lengthen the batting, and then rotate the other seamers across the matches by picking 2 of Anderson/Broad/Wood/Robinson. That means Leach can play as the spinner.

That gives a top 8 of something like this....

Burns
Crawley
Malan
Root
Pope
Stokes
Buttler
Woakes

Robinson/Wood
Broad/Anderson
Leach

3 quicks, Stokes as the all rounder for 4th seamer, Leach as a spinner and Root with some overs. That balance is an awful lot better than just 4 quicks.

Three Lancashire players (the most of any county) selected for England's U19 limited overs tour of Sri Lanka in preparation for the U19 World Cup in the West Indies in January. The players are : Tom Aspinwall, George Bell and Josh Boyden.

Boyden from Wigan, left arm seamer, still only 17.
Bell from Manchester, right hand middle order bat, can keep wicket, 19.
Aspinwall from Lancaster, seam bowling all-rounder, bats lower middle, also only 17.

There's a few in the squad who have already played 1st team championship cricket.
