The word from Root is Broad plays and Stokes has a fitness test tomorrow morning just to make sure with rain meaning he wasn't able to bowl outside today. One of Archer or Wood will play as he wants the real pace option in his attack.
Although tomorrow may be showery it's dry and hot from Thursday onwards and they may want a spinner to balance the attack
If Stokes can't bowl they've proven they have options and could conceivably just go same again, but if he can bowl then he faces a real dilemma if he keeps Bess in, which seamer does he drop?
I would be inclined to just play a five seamer attack and drop Bess but think it's not the way they'll go. It could mean a straight choice between James Anderson on his home ground and who could be so crucial in exerting control over the top Pakistani batsmen in Babar and co, or Chris Woakes who has an exemplary record against Pakistan at an incredible average of around 16 and took five wickets in the last West Indies innings.

Did lancs just concede 150 in 15 overs with no fielding restrictions?? Jeez...
I would drop Bess too. If you don't have a very good spinner you shouldn't play one for the sake of it. Our quicks are much better bowlers than him. Root can bowl a bit if needed.

Deserved win for Leicester against Lancs - great effort to knock off those runs even against a depleted attack. I understand Moulton, after a nervous first spell, bowled a couple of good spells in the first innings and was unlucky not to take a wicket or two. Hartley too bowled well although there were some loose balls - picked up a couple of bonus wickets - as did Bailey - when the slog was on in the 1st innings.
The good news for Lancs is that Livingstone, Gleeson, Mahmood, Onions and Wood could be available for their next game.
With Lancs taking the shortsighted Catterickesque decision to restrict live coverage to their dwindling band of members, I watched the thrilling Notts/Derby game at Trent Bridge, which was free for all, as were most of the other games I believe. Derby won off the penultimate ball of the match, chasing 365, their highest ever run chase, in fading light and with Jake Ball bowling a marathon 33.5 overs, 3 for 98.
Plenty of exciting games up and down the country - great to see ex-Lancs Luke Procter bat all day for a century and help to save the game for Northants, could have done with his battling qualities at Worcester! The Bob Willis Trophy off to a great start!

Not sure what documentary it was in but remember a lad called Carberry saying about the abuse he took off the bowlers for dropping a catch once and how they were scared in the field. Funnily enough, I think KP was in that one stirring the pot. I don't like the way he always jumps onto the players he obviously doesn't like and accuse them of bullying, just because they worked out he was a grade A whopper. It's a fine line between playing hard and winning and making sure you don't cross that line.
