Only rain can save the West indies now. Ideally England can have a half hour in the field tonight but even if that's not possible, 98 overs on Tuesday should be enough.

Ideally they can extend the lead to around 350 and declare tonight. Need to aim to score at around 3.5 an over.

Broad is an outstanding bowler these days. Not sure hes bowled as consistently well at any time during his career.
We are not scoring fast enough given the weather forecast. With the lead we've got we should be in 20/20 mode.

I know Gough had one poor decision where he gave it out when it was going down but that really was so surprising as it was he who actually got one wrong.

For my money Gough has been exceptionally good

Richard Kettleborough has been average with a few mistakes

Richard Illingworth has been exceptionally poor with a multitude of poor decisions, even when not overturned it's invariably umpire's call. A trigger finger if ever there was one.

Gough though really has had a tremendous series.

Umpire's first test Kettleborough and illingworth - standard very poor

Second test Gough and Illingworth - chalk and cheese really - Gough excellent, Illingworth nightmare

Third test - no Illingworth so prospects looked far better - one or two errors but nothing in the Illingworth class
Totally agree.

Agnew says “I'd think England will want as close to 400 as they can get”
Ffs, there’s no way this Windies batting line up will get anywhere near that. And at this rate (assuming tomorrow is a complete write off), England would take until lunch on Tuesday to get 400 ahead. 330 ahead will be plenty, get WI in
again tonight.

They're running 6 overs short so 36 overs left today. If they close the innings, it is a risk as there are no guarantees the weather won't blow through quicker than expected and it's meant to be fine at 7pm tomorrow and showery before that.

It could be a repeat of Saturday and we could leave them well over 100 overs possibly 120 over if they play most of the last session tomorrow, declaring tonight on the weather can backfire

if we assume it's a washout which is most likely then you possibly have to set a target which is enough regardless and gives you plenty of overs to win. 98 should be easily enough tbh.

36 overs today and 260 ahead, I would say 400 enough to be confident regardless so 140 more in 36 overs at just under 4.

Switched over to our game now anyhow

:D:cheers:

Root's smashing it, England declared 226-2, Windies need 399, Burns out for 90, Root 68 off 56 balls. Twenty mins batting for the Windies.
