Broad/Archer are prtty useful number 9/10's really. They go out swinging, sometimes it comes good. England I think will be deceptively pelased how it's gone. 350 is very good on this track. They've not used much time up which was imperative.

It would be great if Archer could score a few but unfortunately he's looked every bit a tailender at test level with an average of 8.57. What you can say is it's early in his test career and only 14 innings, so he has time on his side and his first class average is far better in the twenties although admittedly against county attacks.

Broad has a far better test average (18.73), which was in the high twenties until his head injury, but a miserable 13 since the injury.

Both have been batting like number elevens although Broad has made real runs at test level before his batting fell off a cliff, so much so that today was his top score since the injury. Archer has a top score of 30 but nothing else at all really in his short career so far.

Not too sure I would describe either as s useful 9 or 10, averages of 8.75 and 13 (marginally better) are common place really even for a number 10. Possibly both a useful number 11.

England rejigged their batting order, filling the bottom order with bowlers, but at least they brilliantly kept one hidden batter really well disguised and hidden right down the order at number 10.

Well done Broady, a real flashback to what you used to be like.

:D

Eng 4/6, Draw 9/5, West Indies 25/1

England 63%, Draw 32%, West Indies 5%

Looks as though a four day match possible with only Monday washed out and 111 runs in a session all out has moved the game well ahead of schedule. I can't see them having the choice as only 170 to save the follow on but I can't see them enforcing even if they did now. A lead of 120 would really set them up to set a target tomorrow night (knowing Monday almost certainly lost) and attempt to bowl them out on Tuesday.

Why are they checking the light every ball. They say its OK for Archer to bowl. Give it one ball then take them off. Theyd clearly want to stay on and bowl bess and Root

Proper daft umpiring. How dark could it have got in 30 seconds.

Bad light is just a ridiculous concept with floodlights. We'd never play club cricket here if we were worried about light.

Deary me, if they're going to come off for bad light so early in the day start the days earlier! This was the perfect series to fiddle around and test such things. Or make lighter coloured balls, something has got to be done. They don't do anything about slow over rates as it is.
