Hmmm...Man U get 75k with a stadium that is one of the most poorly served by public transport for an urban area. It's a real conundrum, their success at getting 75k or thereabouts given the absence of a rapid transit stem.

Man U have won all in sight over the past 10 years. What if they went to mid-table? The 76,000s will dwindle to 50,000s.

Did you read this from the first post?

Rival club Tottenham, are to build a new stadium. They wanted to occupy the under construction Olympic stadium after the Olympics. But.. They wanted to engage in all this cost:
  1. Pull down the 80,000 stadium directly after the 2012 games
  2. Extend the Crystal Palace athletics stadium in South London to give athletics a major venue.
  3. Built on the Olympic stadium site a new high revenue generating dedicated football stadium.
The Olympic stadium is on the underground rapid-transit CrossRail junction. The success of Arsenal FC with 27 rapid-transit rail platforms around the stadium is the impetus. So much so, Tottenham would spend an amazing amount of capital up front to achieve the near 100% attendances guananteeing success.

So rapid-transit rail can make a difference when done right as Arsenal have proven.
Spurs wanted to effectively build TWO stadia to get the site served by rapid-transit. The work to Crystal Palace is near to building a new stadium.
If we're going to split hairs, Arsenal's get 60k because of their relative success

Analysts have put it down to:
  1. The top class stadium
  2. The service of rapid-transit.

The two combined above enables Arsenal to compete at the top.

I wasn't at all interested until the blue writing. I'm sold now though. Where do i sign?

The city Council state:
"Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club as priorities"

The City Council want to get all together and prioritize the Outer Loop line for both clubs.

For Alio. x

Haha, those guys rock :)

I don't know the answer to this, so this isn't a smart ass rhetorical question, but what kinda gates where they getting before they got so good, say mid-80s to early 90s?

Analysts are stupid. Didn't Arsenal have something like a 6yr waiting list for season tickets before they moved? The demand there is what drives their occupancy rate, not the local transport network. I think. Obviously i'm no expert.

When a team competes at the top and wins the gates are good. It is when they have 5 years at mid-table. That is when you judge support. That is when the facilities and comfortable access matters. That ensures high gates when you need them to bounce back.

Analysts are not stupid. Arsenal had a 40,000ish crap ground before they moved. The 27 platforms of rapid-transit mattered BIG TIME. Read the first post again. Look at why Spurs were to build basically Two stadia.

This post on an old thread had this:

“The most creative thing that I've heard has not come from either of the clubs or I dare I say even the University which is disappointing, it has come from KEIOC and Spirit of Shankly, coming up with this idea of a Sports Zone; unless you have something creative you're not going to crack that financial problem."

Rogan Taylor had previously left a message on the FQ petition site, stating:

“A great idea; something which expresses the core of our city culture - something which could entirely rejuvenate the area - and a unique selling point for Liverpool.”

The best place for a "Sport Zoner", or better named "Sports City", is Aintree. EFC, LFC and the race course can share the same Outer Loop rapid-transit rail access. The Dept for Transport will come up wit the money to built the rail access with such usage. All future sports venues can be directed to the area. Success is guaranteed.

Having a Sports Quarter in Stanley Park is destined to fail. Without high throughput rapid-transit rail it is bound to fail.

So the council can't afford it, the government can't afford it, merseytravel can't afford it and the passengers who will be inevitably expected to pay through the nose for it can't afford it.

Combine that with two new stadium that neither clubs can afford to build and inevitable rising ticket prices that none of the fans can afford and we've got a realistic prospect for the future???????

Merseytravel does not supply the money, neither does the council. If you read the thread, the Dept fro Transport supplies that. They would expect EFC and LFC to contribute to stations near their stadia. The powers that be have to present a case for funding. Two large stadia would give high passenger usage and run to top of the list for money.

Combine that with two new stadium that neither clubs can afford to build

Once again. they borrow. Please read the thread before posting, it is easier that way.

Is this a bad time to mention I drive to the game....

Yes you're destroying the planet as well as the outer loop.

I love the way its called the outer loop. Yer man that keeps harping on about it comes from the Outer Loop I think, of andromeda perhaps.

He's Loop Choowalker and is sick of the lousy transport options where he lives.
