Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Most people who go on cruises - we're talking the boomers with money to burn - could have taken the 'hit'. I'd have had sympathy for them if they cancelled but didn't get their money back but I have absolutely none for them going against basic common sense and getting stranded.
Some of them might of been on a longer cruise, maybe 2 or 3months.

Some quotes from the moronic Florida pastor who was thankfully jailed today after holding full blown services at his mega church yesterday.

“We brought in 13 machines that basically kill every virus in the place, and uh, if somebody walks through the door it’s like, it kills everything on them. If they sneeze, it shoots it down at like 100 mph. It’ll neutralize it in split seconds. We have the most sterile building in, I don’t know, all of America,” he said, promising his church was clean.

“And we disturbed [the Zika virus], declared we cursed that thing in the name of Jesus and Zika disappeared,” the pastor said last month.

“We are doing the same thing with the Coronavirus,” he added. “We do not need it on these shores, and obviously — somebody said ‘Well, what about the rest of the world?’ I can’t be responsible for every city or whatever.”

Ive read some suspicions around the UKs reporting of figures similar to what you read on here about China. I’m not making an accusation good or bad as I really don’t know, but I’ve seen the following suspicions.

UK:

Only reporting R.I.Ps in hospital.

Not including numbers without consent of the family following an R.I.P.

Priority given to reporting death of an underlying health condition, I.e. cardiac, respiratory disease even though people tested positive for covid.

Deaths in the community, nursing homes and covelasence home not added to stats.

As NHS haven’t until recently been tested, there could be a significant number of active cases amount health care professionals - health care professionals can make up a quarter or more of active cases as has been seen in other countries.

*Hard to know the truth of it all, it’s just what I’ve read but I’m sure everyone on the ground is doing their best. You can read anything you want from the wildly optimistic to the most pessimistic.

Already today there are articles of flattening the curve in the UK Vs stories of beginning triaging ICU beds.

I suppose the only way of validating will be retrospectively against average mortality rates Vs normal during the covid period Vs official covid figures.

Interesting analysis, the CEO of the NHS said there are 9k people in hospital in the UK with positive Covid-19. If we know approx 15 -20% (1 in 5) conservatively of Covid 19 infected need hospitalisation. (China reported 15%, others have hit 20%).

It would put the UKs total figure of Covid-19 cases In the UK at or close to 45k instead of 22k approx. Noting not everyone is tested.

If the 22k figure is in-fact correct then just under 40- 50% of all cases in the UK need hospitalisation, we haven’t seen that anywhere else to the best of my knowledge.

That’s not to alarm anyone, as thankfully not everyone will need to be hospitalised, but in the absence of widespread testing it could give a bit of an insight into what the real number of cases might be in the UK.
