Asians are so used to these outbreaks, they are always alert, so no wonder Koreans have done a fantastic job. You can’t expect that level of clutchness from western nations

Was that an option? Did we have the tests available at the time in the numbers we’d require? This thing has spread like wildfire.

They could definitely have done more of it I reckon. We had the time.

WHO are claiming the first case of this was December 31. Well there's people in Wuhan (inc the first British person to test positive) who had it in November.

This thing has been around for months mate.

Not even saying it in a conspiracy way. It's just a mental reaction on every scale (though it's the only one we have now).

There really isn’t an other option but follow a similar pattern because historically (with other major infections) isolation is a standard approach.

With regards to the figures coming out of China, what we are hearing and what our governments will know (and are using) are worlds apart.

The spooks and GCHQ aren’t going to openly declare ‘we know the numbers are wrong’ because that would be saying ‘Look, this is our capability’.

Oh yeh I know mate, I get it.

Just still doesn't sit right with me, mind.

Ah but knowing about it in December and knowing how deadly/easily spread it was going to be are two different things.

Dunno. Hence the question. Like we have been together for 20 years, just never been arsed about a certificate, and we, well I, said it would be sensible when she is back home to make it a bit easier if sommet happened. (It spooked me when she was poorly).

So we dont want any faffing about, literally, just a certificate.

Not exactly the priority for UK Plc atm, granted.

"Couples in the UK can have their wedding performed by an unordained friend or family member provided they then validate the marriage in a registry office."

I'm staying in Bristol at the mo.

I'd be happy to pop over during a daily exercise and marry you both through the window.

You'd still have to get it ratified at the registry office but at least in the eyes of GOT you would no longer be living in sin.

Oh I agree there.

But it's seemingly getting ignored when it comes to mainstream reports.

Honestly think too many people have said they've had symptoms that are spot on like the ones of COVID-19 over the course of Dec/Jan for it to be purely a coincidence, is all.

Dunno, all just strange. I'm not saying we have any other option now though other than to do what we're doing.

If we start to see a decline in cases in 2-3 weeks' time (so after 3-4 weeks of lockdown) then hopefully over the course of May we can gradually return to some form of normality, though keep the public gatherings etc cancelled until June at the earliest.

This is going to come back around again but there is going to have to come a point where life simply has to go on. The world can't keep stopping. It'll all crash and people's lives will be ruined for years to come - a lot more people will be impacted by that than the virus itself.

We just have to hope that we can do enough in these next few months to ensure when it does come around we can manage it.
