So, by the looks of it, I'm not going to be entitled to anything from the government's self-employed support scheme, as 50% or more of my profits from 16-19 tax years didn't come from self-employment.

Despite the fact I've now been self-employed for a full year, yet they won't have any record of that as the tax year hasn't ended.
Very sorry to hear that. Can imagine there are thousands of people in the same boat with the boom in self employment recently. It’s a deeply flawed policy in my opinion.

Because doctors are having to resort to this because they don't have PPE. How is that 'pushing your ideology onto everyone else'?

It's simple, no need to read what I put.

No lad, everything you post has a political angle and motive, and as @COYBL25 says there is another thread, just leave this one be....

Can we leave the politics out of this thread FFS.

Out of this thread?

Mate, this thread is politics. Everything that is happening right now in the UK is the result of government policy.

Remember a few weeks back, when experts such as Garry fecking Neville (!) were telling the Tory government that it was madness to ferry thousands of Spaniards (from a place that was known to have large numbers of cases) into Liverpool for a football game, while at the same time, our governments own experts were telling everyone it was fine?

You can disagree, but it's true. I'm not against testing as a whole, btw. The only people who need testing are those sick with it and those who are at significant risk. There might be correlation with countries that do a lot of testing and them dealing with it well, but that's not a direct result of the testing. Those countries have also implemented actual strategies to stop the spread, like enforced quarantine.

More health officials are coming out and are saying stay at home, don't try to get tested. It makes absolute sense. Do you really want valuable medical resources used up just to confirm that some guy with a fever and a cough has the coronavirus, even though you can't do anything to help him, and he'll just be told to go home anyway?

I think he means more long term mate.

So, once we're over the worst of it, be in a position to test anyone with symptoms so you can trace contacts and get them to isolate as well.

Plus, general, almost random testing of the population to see how widespread it's been because there's a massive difference in how to proceed between 1% of the population been exposed and, say, 30%.

Well said. The politics is interlinked into this crisis. It seems like it may be the 'wrong' politics that has maybe upset some.
