Don't think testing is going to solve a lot of issues if you already missed the first phase. that was the key success of South Korea, they started doing it from the get-go. also, negative tested ones would get too relieved and may ignore the instructions as if they can never catch or spread in the future, therefore it may even be counter-productive IMO. Testing is vital but does not have to be the only way to beat covid.

I'm concerned now for the health of an 88 year old man whom I was assisting late yesterday evening. He was very frail and knew he shouldn't have been out.
He was however attempting to purchase £1100 worth of Google play cards to send off the codes to someone who had fixed his computer, and then was going to Western Union some more money tomorrow.
Bless him, he had no idea he was being scammed bit the scumbag gobshites has access to his computer.
I managed to get hold of his bank for him, which wasn't easy as all the call centres were closed it seemed and stopped his accounts as you could see they were switching money between accounts to make it all look genuine.
They kept phoning him and I had to pretend to be him to buy him some time.
The way they talked was genuinely haunting.
Luckily a bizzie popped in to get some shopping and calmed the arl boy down and we saved him all his life savings it would have seemed.

And as I was using his ancient mobile phone and vice versa, I just hope this episode hasn't made him poorly too.

Well done mate ;)

Speaking of New York...

The first point I'd make, is we simply don't have testing kits right now. So yes the one's we do have, let's make sure our medical professionals get them first.

The second point, the commissioner less than a month ago was advocating people go out and party at the parade. That jeopardized millions of people. Her reputation is in tatters.

The one thing missing from the emergency bill this week was vastly increased penalties for people who do that (appreciate they may have been overseas but there are loads in the U.K. too).

Anyone who defrauds people, burgles occupied houses or seeks to profit criminally (edit: off people) during this should really be looking at a life sentence.

That's the phone number they were using. ( missed calls)
That's a London code isn't it ?

I agree that some decent sentences should be dished out for this as panic must be rife within the elderly and vulnerable right now.

He died the following year after the Suez crisis, is health issues.exacerbated by the crisis.

well yes but how much that was down to Suez, or a realisation that he’d just confirmed what everyone already thought (that he was a bit of a whopper) is questionable

Shameful that doctors have to resort to this. Shame on Johnson's government.

Sarah Marsh
A group of doctors have set up a crowdfunder to get vital personal protective equipment (PPE) to medics who are dealing with coronavirus cases, amid concerns that trusts are struggling to protect frontline workers due to a lack of supplies.
Dr Mona Barzin and Dr Salaj Masand, among others, published a page online that reads:

They added:

The page explained that PPE includes face masks, visors, surgical gowns and gloves.

So far, the page has raised £3,415 since being launched yesterday evening.

Do us all a favour mate and set up your own thread, as you`re doing peoples heads in with all this stuff.

It`s just non stop and the purpose of this thread isn`t for you to push your ideology onto everyone else.

I`ve already started a Coranavirus Politics Politics thread for you, so why not use it ?

@orchard I've voted Labour in every election I've been eligible for.

They were a shambles in the last one and got trounced by the some of the most despicable Tories there has been.

Not blaming them for this mess at all and I'd much rather have Corbyn in power, but they were a mess and it's the country that pays for it.

EDIT: Last politics post.

It is, but they can spoof numbers or have other lines redirected via them - it helps with the scam if the victim thinks it’s a U.K. number.

edit: I take it the copper look those details down and reported it as a crime?

The post was drawing people's attention to this

Because doctors are having to resort to this because they don't have PPE. How is that 'pushing your ideology onto everyone else'?

It's simple, no need to read what I put.

He did.
He was a Sergant and he himself answered the final call off the gobshite.

It's clever stuff this now and you wonder how people fall for it, but Douglas, the elderly man has no family, never married and did'nt have kids as he was a school teacher for over 40 years he said and didn't want kids of his own !
